have you change your mind about buying stuff online?

When I first heard about buying things online, I fell on the floor laughing. You got to be kidding. Then when stuff I ordered started showing up, that was cool. But I wouldn't order things, likes shoes, etc. Yesterday, the guy dropped off the shoes I ordered. I live out in the boonies. I takes a gallon of gas to get to the mall and a gallon back. Lots of times, the shipping charge is less than the cost of the gas. And if you buy something over $50, they ship for free. I ain't laughin' no more.

I like having the opportunity to shop online now;) I am careful, read the reviews on items. I've gotten a lot of good, electronics like my last phone, Fire Tablet. They come right to my door to deliver. I still like to go "out" shopping. All I have close that's good is a Fred Meyer, hit their sales;) If I find something I like, but not in my size, I get the info and google it. Usually Amazon, sometimes Ebay. I try hard to order American made products, but just can't find everything made here;)

When I first thought about online shopping I didn't want my debit card used over the net; didn't think it was safe. In the past few years all was fine but watch out for the Times magazine sellers online-they made an unauthorized charge on my card. I had to cancel my card and get another one. I have a good watch on my card so I found out they did that right away and called them and told them to cancel everything, my account with them.

Yes I have. The first thing that bothered me was putting my credit card online. I finally got over that and use Amazon quite a bit. I don't have Prime but I wait until I have enough to qualify for free shipping. I check the prices on an item I want and sometimes find Amazon isn't the cheapest. I do look at the reviews but take them with a grain of salt. I make sure the review isn't coming from the company itself. I have heard some companies pay people to put up positive reviews. Once in awhile I find a poor review and when I read the reason why it is because the person didn't like the color or some aspect of the item that wouldn't bother me at all. I find it great for toys for my Grand kids. My daughter sends me choices with the item number and I chose from that. Good thing because I have no idea even how to pronounce the name of the item, what it does or how it works. I did get stuck with chair covers for our recliners. You could see through them. No problem sending them back though.

I like shopping online, so far so good. There was one glitch with Amazon- I had ordered a bottle of Evyan White Shoulders cologne for my dil for Xmas, but they sent Jovan White Musk instead

I hate musk. So, I let her try it and told her if she didn't like it, I'd be happy to get something else. She liked it. Actually she bought more of it later in the year so it turned out ok.

They offered me an Amazon Visa card and if approved they'd give me a $70.00 credit. I had fun with that!

Like others I still have some concerns over the safety of my personal information.

I enjoy online shopping and the only problems I've had so far have been caused by me not paying attention to the descriptions, location of the seller, etc...

If I really had to buy everything online I probably could and someday I may have to.

It should be mandatory for every miserable old geezer, grump and granny to learn the basics of how to use the internet!!!

I shop online all the time. I never use a debit card, except personally at an ATM machine, which is very rare. I use a credit card; that way, I am protected.

I would not get something like shoes online, or anything that I really have to try on. But otherwise, it's a huge convenience. They always have sales where shipping is free; just look for them.

If I can buy things locally, I'd rather shop in the stores and see what I'm getting. I won't buy shoes or clothing online anymore, the color and sizes are always iffy, but I have bought a lot of things on Amazon, not a prime member but often am able to get free shipping. I currently have a blanket/comforter in the mail that I ordered from Sportsman's Guide. I always use credit card online or offline, never had a debit card. I do still use checks in the local stores.

With my and hubbys mobility not being what they used to be we do a lot of shopping online. Our retailer of choice is Amazon. Though occasionally we will order from Walmart and have it delivered to the store..I think the only thing I would not buy online is groceries.

I haven't had any problems either Butterfly, had to return a couple of things but it always went smoothly.

By the time I started buying online, I had been paying all of my bills online for some time with no drama. There were people stealing mail and altering checks. When it happened to a friend, that bill-paying mtethod didn't feel safe any more so I went online.

I had been buying some things online when I broke my shoulder and discovered the joys of buying heavy things like bags of dog food and having them delivered to my door so I didn't have to try dragging them around with one arm. I never looked back. I still order all of my pet supplies online and a large percentage of my people food too. I buy from Amazon, Walmart, Target and a number of different online retailers. I have Amazon Prime, but many online retailers offer free shipping if you buy more than $35, some figure like that. I am waiting for cataract surgery and I'm not driving until then, so buying online is a necessity again.

I'm picky about clothing brands, and I don't hesitate to order certain brands from Amazon (or retailers like LLBean). Free shipping and they always have my color and size. I don't have to find parking or deal with unpleasant sales associates. I buy shoes online because I stick to brands where I know my size. I always do due diligence and shop carefully, but part of the reason I like buying online is that the quality of things like clothes in the stores has gotten worse over time.

It's pretty easy to spot the clinkers in online reviews, if you read closely enough. Some reviewers complain about things that are their own fault, which is easy to ignore.

The last thing I ordered online was grass-fed ghee a couple of days ago. The grocery store was out of good grass-fed butter the last time I shopped, so I couldn't make homemade ghee.

I buy online probably once or twice a week, every week. I have given local merchants a chance to meet or beat online prices, and they rarely do. Too bad for them. An AC part that this robber technician tried to charge me $90 for was bought, online, for $22! That is the norm, I have found. Sad that local businesses can't get with the program, although they're great at complaining loud, and often, about how online sales are killing them. FWIW, I think it's crazy to use a debit card online. I only use my credit card. Never have had any major problems, knock on wood!

Not at all; I have no reason to. I started at the tyre of the century and I suppose I get up to half a dozen parcels a week - expecting two today, one a cellphone costing $1200 US. My wife was converted when I showed her how, in a small Scottish fishing village, she could get her bras on Fifth Avenue!

I supposed most Americans would tale to it easily - you have a long tradition of distance shopping from frontier days.

I still like to shop in stores for certain things but it is nice to shop in my jammies from the comfort of my home.
I probably should use online shopping more than I do. It would save me time.

I bought a pair of eyelet white sheer curtains in eBay just over a week ago ...I always double check what I have ordered before paying ..on the listing there was only the choice of black ,white ,gray or brown ..
I received a pair of curtains that were white for the first half and purple on the second half ..they looked like someone had sewen together two scraps of fabric to make it the correct length ...which is about a 7 foot drop ...and if I wanted to,send them back it was going to,cost me the postage ,it wasn’t my mistake ....grrrrr :grrr:

You need to make a fuss about it on Ebay, Kadee. That merchant lied in the description of his product.

It's been many years since I bought from eBay. Too many horror stories about unscrupulous merchants there, and it gets worse all the time. I know people who used to sell on eBay and they quit because the site is terrible now.

Jane I always with PayPal as you get buyer protection as well ...will be contacting on Monday ( it Saturday night here in Australia ) :)

I would complain to the merchant and eBay. I have had two cases where eBay determined that the merchant was at fault and I was allowed to keep the defective items without the bother and expense of returning them. Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose!

Good. You shouldn't have to pay a lying merchant. Take Aunt Bea's advice; she's right. Potential buyers need to know this merchant has a bad reputation.

I've had an account with Amazon for many years...never a complaint!

Amazon serves as a broker for many other retailers in addition to being the world's biggest retailer, now bigger than WalMart.
