CUP stands for cancer of unknown primary origin. "Cup cancer, which has no discernible origin, is much harder to target and treat correctly, making it one of the hardest for patients to survive" Read this story about a woman who had CUP. She was seemingly healthy and active. After experiencing pains, seeing her doctor, then experiencing more severe pains she was misdiagnosed both times. Finally as part of an ER visit a CAT scan was ordered and they found that cancer was all through her body. Her son wrote: "My mother Cheryl Taylor Bagenstose passed away on April 24 at age 72, six months to the day after our mother-son dance, and seven weeks after her diagnosis. How in the world that can happen, I’ll never know."

good information thanks for sharing ....
CUP makes sense ... especially as to why a screening etc did not catch and warning signs

i have had a few friends have similar situations ....
Many times IMO doctors try to assign it to a specific type and say things like "symptoms or tests do not always see this " but the truth may be an unknown origin.

It's possible that cancer originates in one part of the body but spreads before it shows symptoms. That's why the whole body needs to be treated, not just one area.

Generally, from my point of view, the very best hospitals and the very best doctors are going to catch and understand a lot more than just any old doctor...

I doubt it. When celebrities with cancer who can afford the "Very Best" hospitals & the "Very Best" treatment & sometimes travel to different countries for the "Latest" & "Best" treatments, their survival rates are no different than anyone else's.
Examples: Farrah Fawcett, John Wayne, George Harrison.
What determines survival is how aggressive the cancer is; not how good the doctors are or how early it is diagnosed.
