Have You Ever Pawned Anything?

No .... My first husband who I married in 1966 , divorced 1969 used to buy me a watch on payday and pawn it the next day , he would pawn anything that was not bolted down, to get money for ciggaretes, beer or another tattoo
he passed away at 50... Many years ago

Not pawned but sold a bunch of gold there. Just had no use for it and the price of gold was high at the time. A funny story though (crazy, really). My eldest daughter pawned her engagement/wedding rings when she got divorced and needed the $$. That was 15 years ago. She STILL pays on it every single month and it still sits in the pawn shop. She wants to save it for her daughter in case she`s interested in it. It did turn out to be a good thing it was there at one point-her house was robbed and all of her jewelry was stolen. It would have been gone. But OMG-who pays on a pawned ring for 15 years??!!??

My first experience was as a young man buying a signet ring from a pawn shop in Rantoul Illinois. I wore it for two weeks and it was too lose. I sold it to another pawn shop for more than what I paid for it. Can't figure that out. True story.

My next experience was pawning my Leica camera for $20 in between military pay days in Tampa Florida.

I pawned a handgun to get by to the next payday during the "financially insecure" period in my life, following a divorce. I bailed it out later, when my cashflow improved.

Never been in a pawn shop but always wanted to go. On TV they are always involved in some way or other with criminal activity, so I was afraid to go alone.
(Just kidding)

Ma'am, they for the most part greatly resemble junk-shops, at least the few I've browsed! imp

Aw, shucks! Another missed opportunity for me to pick up a handgun! imp
