Have you ever watched the TV Show, Ax men?

Rather like a comedy really.
Hard working men who are always fighting amongst themselves.
This latest episode, plenty of fisticuffs. 👊
You can’t fire me, I QUIT

I spent most of the 70s-80s in the Pacific NW timber industry. I've actually been to some of the WA/OR areas shown. The logging companies portrayed in the show were real although limited to small independent contractors (commonly called Gypos in the industry). The equipment shown was real and the highline logging techniques were also real.

I've met some loggers who acted a bit like the characters in the show but they weren't allowed to act like that for long. Logging is an expensive and dangerous industry. The owners and their Siderods (Supervisors) have too much at stake to allow such behavior. Men who won't follow rules and orders are disruptive and unsafe and are promptly "sent down the road with a can tied to their tail". The fact that the industry has so many euphemisms for being fired is indicative.

"Bull of the Woods" characters might make good TV but not safe or productive logging in the modern world.
