If you have, tell us about it.

I just finished my 4th session and I am bushed. Therapy will help my balance and stability, impaired due to Peripheral Neuropathy. Medicare & Supplement covers the cost.:)

Yes, for a frozen shoulder. Had limited range of motion. PT fixed it. Medicare and supplemental covered it. I think I had a $10 copay.

the exercises were painful at first because I couldn't straighten my arm but as time went on, it got easier and I got full range of motion back.

Each session was 45 minutes and I usually went twice a week. Think insurance paid for about 20 sessions.

I continued going though until insurance quit covering it...I liked the massage the therapist gave me.

Most of the exercises are on YouTube.

I did for a few weeks after having my hip replaced. The worst part for me was when I had to learn to go up and down steps using a walker. When I got home I learned using a cane. I had to fold the walker up and then use it to steady myself. That really tired me out when I had to do 1o steps up and down.

WOW

I had PT after shoulder surgery for an impingement that resulted in a frozen shoulder. I was scheduled for three times a week for six weeks but at a $35 co-pay, I quit after six visits. There was absolutely nothing that they were doing for me that I couldn't do for myself.

I told them I couldn't afford it and they gave me a schedule of exercises and some stretch bands, and I got full use back in a few weeks on my own.

Yes,I've had PT three times 1. after I had partial right knee surgery in 2004, went to rehab for a week.I continued out patient PT at local hospital where I worked. My therapist gave me exercises, which I still do every morning when I get up.It helps the knee before I go on my early morning walk
2. I've gone to PT twice for my right shoulder, due to bending over countless times when I was working as a pharm tech. The exercises the therapist gave me did help. The 2nd time it happen was 2 yrs ago when I was reaching for a book, felt unbearable pain, couldn't lift my arm up too far.I went to a different therapist, she thought it was a tear, the exercises she gave me have helped.I still do them twice/day.My shoulder will never be 100%, closer to 90% I can live with that.I had a script for 30 days for my PT,went twice week, each session lasted 30-40min. My co-pays were $20 Sue

Yes, most of the exercises are doable at home. A few need the stretch bands.

Had PT for many years after my stroke for my weak left leg, foot and left arm. Painful to the point of having to take a pain pill before it and after 3 hours of the sessions. But I had a massive stroke that I was not supposed to recover. But I defied the odds and made a remarkable recovery according to the specialists, and rehab folks. I finally was able to do the exercises at home with the bands, etc and still do some today to maintain. I will always have to walk with a cane but that's okay. I have been blessed with fantastic healthcare and providers and in some instances paid a lot out of pocket. You do what you have to do.

I had PT for 10 weeks after my heart surgery. I began with walking for 3 or 4 minutes, and I was timed so they could compare it to the time for my final workout. I went three times a week for 45 minutes, and my group could request music from Pandora to lighten up the spirits. I usually walked on a treadmill, went on the elliptical, lifted weights, and used a rowing machine. It got easier for me midway through, and my trainer increased the speed gradually. I discovered afterward that the hospital never signed my insurance carrier's forms, so we had a long battle over who should pay for my bill. They finally paid.

My final time on the walk was twice as fast as the initial one. The PT worked well for me and I lost 5 pounds in the 10 weeks. But others struggled and found it very difficult. My group's ages ranged from 21 to 83, and I was around the middle.
