Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I'll be doing my traditional corned beef and cabbage for dinner tonight... forgot to wear green today, so no pinching!

Have you kissed the Blarney Stone? I was reading about it this morning and it seems as if it would be difficult for anyone with a bad back. Is that accurate? Sir Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Mick Jagger... lots of people have put their lips there.... which makes me wonder if they wipe it off or something after each person... do they?!

I researched this and am happy to report that yes, they do indeed clean the Blarney Stone
very thoroughly.

From what I can tell (unless it's changed) you lean over backwards with someone from the castle holding onto you (which sounds worse than the contortions!)

Trip to Ireland (sometime in the last century) and DID NOT KISS THE BLARNY STONE. The owner of the B&B told us that the young louts (her description) "piss on the stone after their pub visits".

I love Ireland. Spent much time throughout the countryside, southern coast and Dublin.
Made many local friends. Sitting around drinking beers, they tell stories.
The running joke is local kids get drunk up there and pee on the Blarney Stone.
