Having problems with a toilet, any ideas?

Take off the tank lid. Flush the toilet and observe carefully. Your flapper is fine, so no need to be concerned with that. There is a tiny tube that goes from the fill valve into the overflow tube and is secured there by a clip. Make sure it is sending water into the overflow tube because that's what refills the bowl. If that retainer clip comes loose, water could spray anywhere.

Also make sure water isn't spraying up from the fill valve that would hit the underside of the tank lid, as it would leak down the outside of the tank onto the floor. The float should rise as the water fills, and if it doesn't it is either getting hung up by something, or it has become partially waterlogged (Which means it has a leak in it, and needs to be replaced).

If the water rises to the level it should be, and everything seems to be working fine, then it's possible the likely culprit is the wax ring that the toilet sits on, and you will see the leaking around the base of the toilet mainly when you flush it.
This. The toilet in our master bath was leaking. When I lifted the lid to the tank water would spray everywhere. It was that one little clip that had disconnected.

Yes, I have had that happen many times but the flapper, the little clip is connected. It seems to be some kind of issue with the float.

I have not worked on it today. The day has been spent getting together what I need to sign up for medicare and a supplement plan thru the federal employee program. Lots of reading, different plans, benefits, making sure all my doctors are on it. Wish I could flush my brain out of my head, such a headache!! LOL

Just a little update, it does appear that there is a leak in the seal at the bottom. Going to have the son come over and see if he can tighten it and solve the problem. If not, going to have to get the plumber in. Good thing it is not emergency, plumbers are booked up around here with frozen pipes bursting

Try laying a towel where the tank meets the bowl, behind the seat. There is a gasket in there too that can sometimes leak, and if your tank is still looking low that may be what it is.

@DebraMae,that is how I determined I had a leak at the floor. I used a towel where you suggested and also one on the floor. The towel at the seat did not have any moisture but the one on the floor did.
