heirlooms

I guess I have a couple of articles left after my father passed away. The first is a should patch from his army uniform 95th infantry and after googling it I see it is worth 10-15 usd. The other is a small locking blade knife with a value around 14 usd. both are in fair condition but that is not the object of
this post. After a google I have found that there are quite a few of each available on the internet. They mean nothing to me as memorbilia or
value. I have no emotional attachment to either. does anyone want either as I am considering just tossing them?

Are there other family members, preferably younger, who might want them?

That's what I have been doing with the family "heirlooms" I have. None have much monetary value, but some are of interest to younger family.

You might check with your local Historical Assn. I volunteer for the one in our town, and the curator there is always available to look at items like you have described. They won't buy any items, but they may have a place to display them.

Sorry, Can't help ya but just wanted to say something about "heirlooms".

I went to a yard sale once where they were selling old tin-type photographs
and told me the pictures were of their Great-Grandparents. 25 cents apiece!
My thoughts were: "How could you sell these?"

When I tried to save a box of tin types my grandmother said why do you want those? you don't know any of those people. I set them aside to save and she must have thrown them out the next day. I value old things and to her they were just old. but then I now have boxes of things that my kids will have to deal with when I am gone. i know you can't keep everything and I do admire people who can park in their garage. I'm just not one of them.
