Hi guys. My first time in a forum. I am a retired paramedic on disability for ruptured discs in my spine.
when I recover, I will start enjoying retirement.
I have lots of advice on how to deal with back pain without depending on medication.

Hi Sprky ,

Good to have you here. I too have ruptured discs in my lower back, had 3 lots of cortisone injections over the years and one surgery..the first 2 cortisone injections about 3 years apart worked, but since then nothing else has given any relief. Some days I can barely stand due to the excruciating pain , but most days altho' the pain is omnipresent , as long as I stay moving and upright, I can cope , I'm a swift and fast walker, when I'm not in too much pain and hate the days when I walk like a hundred year old.. I continued working until I took early retirement 2 summers ago...never been on disability

Most nights the pain is so bad I have to use a hot water pad for an hour every morning to ease up the muscles and relieve the pain...

Welcome!

Welcome, Sprky. I am also a retired health care provider with painful issues, and I don't take pain meds either. There are countless other ways to deal with pain without impairing my brain, bricking my belly, or risking opioid dependency. Bleh!
