Hello all! I'm a youngish (54) retiree who's husband (64) has recently finished with the world of work.

I've signed up to meet new people and explore the possibility of buying another home in the US and spending half the year there, and half here in beautiful Wicklow, Ireland. One of our sons lives in the US and it would be nice to escape the Northern European winters and spend some extra time with him at the same time, so I'm here to get a feel for all you nice people and maybe even get some ideas. :)

I take it you're looking for a warmer climate than we have in my lovely state of CT. What area of the US is your son located? Do you want to be near a coast?
 
I'm sure CT is stunning, and I might be spending Christmas somewhere in New England this year so maybe I'll get to visit it!

My son currently lives in Illinois, but he's keen to move in the next few months. He's lived in a few States (former US Army Sgt) and visited many more, and thinks NC might be the place for him and my daughter in law. I'm not planning on living in the same street, but an easily commutable distance, like a short flight or even long drive away! My husband would love a waterfront property but I'm not fussy, personally.
