Help! We are being invaded by robots!

I don't see it as an invasion of privacy at all. Bots are on every website 24/7... it's just that we don't usually get to see which ones are there. They pick up keywords that will drive traffic to websites and it helps websites come up on searches. Any site you go to, be assured the same is happening.

First of all, none of my personal information is on this website other than my email address and my opinions about things, which probably can't be used to track the real me. It's not like Facebook where all your personal information is out there for everyone to see, which is why I don't use Facebook. That's extremely dangerous in this day and age.

Second, this site is paid for through advertising revenue, so the bots are helping in that respect determine what ads to run.

Third, we have more important things to worry about, like a teacher in England being forced to apologize for calling the students at an all girls school, girls.

Thank you! I guess I am too naive! How else are they going to target me with just the right commercials! :) I have never seen a robot swarm before, so, everybody ... forget this new thread!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, SeniorBen. As I stated in another place, I am too naive about these things. As to the English teacher, our society is going nuts! I'm greatly tempted to switch from liberal to conservative. Not politically, just in my thoughts! :)

Addressed to the senior members: Is there a way to cancel a thread you feel embarrassed about?
Easy one... Don't feel embarrassed about anything! No need... you should see me cringe when someone quotes something I said months ago and here it is in my face again. 🤭 Nothing to be embarrassed about unless you make a very unfortunate typo. Yeah, I've done that, too!

Robots on the forum?! You mean like, this guy? He can come in quite handy. Besides, I like to hear him say his trademark line in his robotic electro-voice… 🤖

I just looked up members who are currently present and am astounded and appalled about how many robots are mining this forum for information at this very moment! How do you feel about this invasion of semi-privacy?
I was astonished when I found out only a few weeks ago that we could tell how many bots are crawling this site! It's the way of the world these days. It's not only happening here. That's why it's best to keep our real names off a site like this where many of us post such personal information. If we do that, not much privacy to invade because the bots don't know who we really are.🤖

Robots bore me to death. The same thing with "Star Wars." I left Facebook over 2.5 years ago and will never go back. Never been on "Tic Tok" or whatever it's called. I'm not interested in "Keeping Up With The Joneses." One of the great benefits of being a senior is "I just don't care" attitude about what many people think is "Earth Shaking" or Ultra-important. It's better for my mind, my heart and general good health. The less stress I feel, the better things are in my little "neck of the woods."
