Here's your typical 1952 family.

Grampa Don

Yep, that's me
relaxing and watching their new Magnavox TV. And Gabby Hayes is on. My folks always dressed like that to watch TV.

not sure if you mean that or being facetious.

we didn't get a TV until 1971 when I was 8 years old. We sure didnt get dressed up to watch it, just wore whatever we happened t o be wearing at the time - often pyjamas - I suppose my father might have worn similar clothes to that if he watched it after work, those were the days office workers wore ties to work

I always remember having a TV and I WAS born in 1952!
Ditto. My parents bought a TV before I was born, didn't dress up at home, and sat much further back from the TV.

My father wore a suit and tie to work everyday, but changed into more casual clothing as soon as he got home. We kids did the same - came home from school and changed into play clothes.

I wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eye in 1952.... ..my mother was just 18 then.... and my father was married to someone else...

I do remember getting a TV.. but I was about 4...or 5 maybe even a little older ... 1960..or early 60's..

so that was 10 years after 1952.. and definitely no-one dressed in a party frock to watch....:ROFLMAO:

Something's a little off. The woman appears to be wearing false eyelashes and from where he's sitting, I don't see how the man can see the screen.

1952 was further back than when my family got a TV, but I haven't made a whole lot of progress in my own TV watching over the years. The largest TV screen in my house is 32" and I still have one 16" TV in a bedroom.

that's because it's an advert for a Television....

If you look at the fine print in those ads you'll see that the people are show business stars. In mine, it's Peter Lynd Hayes and his wife Mary Healy. In Hollydolly's it's Edgar Bergen and his family. That's why Charley McCarthy is on the TV.
I've never heard of these actors but it would stand to reason because they always used actors in commericals back in the day....

In my world most of the men were married and buried in the same suit. 😉🤭😂

We did have a television made of wood and so did all of our neighbors.

In those days, before credit cards, you saved up or stopped at the local finance company office for a loan to buy a television or major appliance.

Those offices were often located near the entrance to a factory.
