Had a walk 300m out the the recently uncovered jetty at Hest Bank yesterday morning. Originally built for ships docking and unloading cargo that was then moved ashore and uphill to the Lancaster canal. Built circa 1800 and revealed partially in 2004 only to be mostly covered up again. Recently a lot of mud and sand has washed away revealing a lot more. A few weeks back someone dug a musket ball out of one of the timbers! Last time I was out there last summer there was a couple of feet of the wall exposed! These are just a few of the shots I have 'for the record.'
