Hello everyone!

I am currently studying Graphic Design at the Arts University in Bournemouth and am doing a project focused around transportation in rural areas.
It would very extremely helpful if I could get some responses of people with the following questions.

1. How easy is it for you to travel to other locations like towns, other villages and cities?

2. Do you ever car pool with relatives/friends who can drive, if so what are the benefits of this?

3. How often do you use a taxi service to visit other places?

Any responses would greatly help me with my project, I look forward to hearing from you.

Many Thanks

Samuel

1. Very easy. If my pogo stick is broken, I use my roller skates.
2. I would never DREAM of car pooling with my relatives. They never help paying for the gas.\
3. I use a taxi every day to pick up my mail and take out the trash.
4. You're welcome.

BTW, Had you filled out your profile I would have been more honest with you.

We live next to an urban area so every fifteen minutes you can catch a bus to anywhere. Have a car plus much is in walking distance. There is also a busy train station to more distant points with service from dawn to late night.

2. Do you ever car pool with relatives/friends who can drive, if so what are the benefits of this?
No need to car pool

3. How often do you use a taxi service to visit other places?
Never...very expensive, plus senior discount to take the bus at a fraction of the price

Good luck!

Ditto! Falcon.. he could ask any average person on the street these same questions..The exercise will do you good son.

:lofl:

Taxi? Must be nice to be able to afford a taxi. I have to use a mule and sometimes he won't budge an inch.

Falcon, between you and Phil, I can't decide who is most incorrigible!

If you look, you will be able to see that my profile has been updated, i don't want to right down every detail. I hope this will encourage you to be a bit more understanding. Im just here trying to get responses from elderly people.

Since you're a student, I hope you don't mind the corrections. :)

Thanks for the responses however some more serious ones would really help!

Hi, Samuel,

I'll answer your questions.

1. How easy is it for you to travel to other locations like towns, other villages and cities?

Where I live we have a good train and bus service so quite easy for me to get to different places. Buses don't cost anything as I have bus pass.

2. Do you ever car pool with relatives/friends who can drive, if so what are the benefits of this?

No, I don't.

3. How often do you use a taxi service to visit other places?

Rarely. I may use one over the Christmas/New Year period though.

Glad to have been of help!

Pam in south Cumbria. :)

1. How easy is it for you to travel to other locations like towns, other villages and cities?
Very easy I am on a good bus route and having the free bus pass helps, also the train service is quite good as well.

2. Do you ever car pool with relatives/friends who can drive, if so what are the benefits of this?

No never, I do not own a car.

3. How often do you use a taxi service to visit other places?

Once per week when I have done my weekly shop.

Hope this helps

Bee from Essex.

Elderly people ! Now Samuel you may be stepping on some member corns referring to them as elderly  There are many members here I'm sure are much fitter and healthier than some half our age ( I'm referring to people in Australia where I live) I have a question for you if you don't mind ? What age is elderly ? Would it be more appropriate to refer to Older people as Mature ?
I live in country area and it's no to your questions we don't work so don't car pool, no taxi's to catch ...

Hi from Herts Samuel..

I'll answer your questions too, even tho' you called us elderly.. :)

1. How easy is it for you to travel to other locations like towns, other villages and cities?

Easy because I have a car, if I didn't then living in the countryside I'd be relying on just 2 buses a day to get to the next town...but to get to London by train is very easy

2. Do you ever car pool with relatives/friends who can drive, if so what are the benefits of this?

...NO

3. How often do you use a taxi service to visit other places?

...Never or very rarely... waaaayyyyy too expensive.......

I don't live in a rural area, but in the suburbs near a big city.

1. Very easy, we own several vehicles for transportation in or out of state/country.

2. Never have carpooled with anyone.

3. It's been decades since I used a taxi to go anywhere.

Samuel,
I have difficulty walking. Basically, I never travel anywhere any more.
I live in a populated area, so when I was active, traveling was always easy.Even then, I never car pooled and almost never took a taxi. You should bear in mind that this is a senior forum. A number of us have physical or financial limitations, and some just lose the desire to travel.
