High School football team beats opponent 77-0, spank them with their belts after the game

A high school football team in Texas beat their opponent 77-0 then spank them with their belts after the game. The team and players doing will be punished themselves.

Houston-area high school football players punished after using belts to spank players on team they beat 77-0

Besides very poor sportsmanship something else that seems to be missing from the story like does the winning team have players lying about their age, using PEDs?-One of the picture showed the winning team with players like 2 ft taller.

Also opens the team up to assault or harrasment charges/lawsuits. Where was the coach?

My take on this from up here in Toronto. First, it's Texas which has it's own set of problems. Second, its high school football, which in the US is a form of religious activity for some people. Third, it's the natural outcome of the ethos of "win at all costs " that permeates a lot of US culture. I have seen videos of American high school athletes attacking basketball referees, baseball umpires , and football officials , and they are seldom punished properly. By properly, I mean banned from all high school sports for ever, plus being criminally charged by Police for their activity during or after a game is over.

IMO none of these things happen overnight.

These kids are the product of a culture or system that condoned, encouraged, or at least turned a blind eye to such unsportsmanlike behavior.

I think the school, coaching staff and parents need to be taken to task just as much as the kids.

High school kids will do what high school kids do. Running up a score of 77-0 is inexcusable for the team's adult supervision. There is no way they should have allowed such a rout. As far as the spanking incident, the winning team's adult supervisors should have immediately stepped in, stopped it, and demand that they apologize for that gesture.

Extremely poor sportsmanship. Be gracious in victory and defeat.

I would expect anyone doing that to be suspended for very long time.

I also think it is very poor sportsmanship on behalf of coach to allow such a score - if you are winning easily, put your players in different positions, take your stronger ones off more, do practice drills, etc.

I see a dirty game, to finish with that score alone,
suggest a team of bullies, who terrified the other
players.

Then to physically attack them after the match is,
arrogance, they think that they are untouchable, they
all need to be thrown out of the team and the school.

Mike.
