So much has been assumed common knowledge for decades now, but the history has faded to the province of narrow specialists. Sure, there are now consumers just along for the ride in the boat now, but even practitioners have lost touch with foundational discovery and creation.
Surely some of us still remember these developments though, and even the people who were involved first-hand. If not as personal acquaintances then at least as correspondents and the authors of papers, books, and training materials.
