The Home Depot on FM 1960 near Walters Road has two side-by-side computer key making machines. I had four people say they did not know how to use either of them.
I bought a new truck a week ago and the sales consultant asked if putting step bars or nerf bars as they are called would violate the warranty!!
I have had three calls from a dealership asking me if I had visited their sales manager yet after I told them on the first call I bought from another dealer.

Just goes to show we are getting dumber every year. IQs are down 7% for every generation since 1977.

OMG, I hope you didn't give anyone any change when checking out. That totally freaks them out as they don't have the skills to count money.

They can't count change back, They need the register to tell the how much change to give back. Now, I'll admit I'm very bad at math, but at least I could do that.

fmdog44, nobody wants to take responsibility. No one feels confidant enough to give you an answer, even when they do know it.

It's like they're schmucks or something, I don't know, but it's frustrating.

You should put your location on your profile so we know where you are referring to " The Home Depot on FM 1960 near Walters Road ". Means nothing unless we know WHERE!!

That's right Jim. Some peeps will mention something about where they live but are afraid to say WHERE!

Don't be afraid; Just say maybe what country, or city etc. We don't want the name of your street and house number

unless it's essential to your story. I'm not gonna come there and bust into your house!

The funny part was about " dumb" for years now the order taker had pictures to look at and match the bill to the pictures. So complicated the starting wage wage probably should be a lot more than the $15.00 an hour wanted.

Maybe someday merchants will price everything so the no change has to be given. That might just be enough of a time saver to eliminate those kiosks.

Waste of money, most keys have to be programmed to the car .
I bought 2 at Wal-Mart in Norwich N.Y. that don't even unlock the doir.

A key for your new truck?

I lost one of my keys for our new small SUV (RAV 4) . To get a new key it cost $230. I do not think you could get a key cut at Home Depot as my key had to be programed.

Three weeks later I found the "lost" key!:(

I wonder if any company has ever investigated how much it costs them in time-$ vs how much it'd cost to price everything so that it rings up to a even dollar amount?

This was a simple house key. Keys are numbered and mine they said was 66. Sadly, the number on my key is 5. Anyhow it worked on my door.

To your post, I just got back from the store and the bill was $18.92 so I gave him $20.02 (I always try to dump pennies). He gave me $1.18 in change. Immediately I could see him struggle with the math. I took a dime and left the rest for him. This generation should have the motto. "If it don't got a button then I don't know nuttin.'"

Same story for my Nissan.I just have what looks to me like a plain key,but it's got a black plastic piece on top which has a chip in it...mine was a little less expensive, 86.00:)
My daughter in law has the same model car, just 2 years older that has the "smart" key, part of it stays in the ignition and you just have to have the key on you...confusing.
