Homemade Boston Brown Bread

I love B&M Brown Bread but I forgot to buy it and it is also a bit pricey. I had this recipe for quite sometime and decided to try it. It isn't gluten free so I couldn't eat it but my hubby and son said it was very good. The recipe says bake for an hour, mine was ready in 50 minutes. B. Bread slices (800x600).jpgBrown Bread R. Funny you would post this today. Last time brown bread in the can was brought up on here,I looked for it at my local Safeway. No luck. But yesterday I wanted to buy fish and our other local grocery has better fish,so I went there. Grabbed a loaf of bread too,and there on the bread shelf was B&M Brown Bread. I bought two, although I`m liely the only one who will eat it. Your recipe sounds really good though. I`ll bet it`s much better than the canned.

Oh, that looks so good. I absolutely love homemade bread. Thanks for the recipe, Ruth.

Its more of a 'sweet' bread than a yeast bread!
I'm going back more than 75 years when I remember
my grandmother making it, and I'm sure she cooked it
in a can that she lowered into a pot of boiling water on the stove.
