The Simpsons' dry, absurdist wit has clear roots in this short film directed by
and starring Matt Groening's father, Homer Groening.

I despised The Simpsons. I'll sound like a close-minded old fart, but when it first aired I could foresee the decay of family structure (respect for father). I wouldn't let my kids watch it. They're grown now, and hardly ever miss an episode. But that's ok because they are adults. Interestingly, they don't (/didn't) let their kids watch it.

Interesting, if you read the first post, it seems Matt was influenced by his Dad's film making and sense of humor. I think his Dad was proud of Matt's TV work.

Interesting Meanderer, I've watched the Simpsons (Family Guy, Southpark) in the past, don't anymore, but I can appreciate the dry or not so PC humor. :)
