Honda Civics

I looked at the two closest Honds dealerships to me for a 2021 or 2022 Civic sedan. One only hand 2 and the other had 11. All were light gray, dark gray, or black. Boring colors. Why so few cars and no red or blue ones?
It seems those neutral colours are the most popular. We've noticed lately, there are a lot more red, blue, orange and yellow cars on the roads here. I want a red Honda next time, as it's the most visible colour. Can they order a red or blue one for you?

I wouldn't buy a big ticket technologically complex item produced during Covid. Lots of quality control issues in the new Class Bs RVs like mine. Have also heard from a friend who is car shopping that her dealership owner friend advised her to buy used. 2021s should be okay.

I'm not really serious about buying a new car right now after buying a house. Just curious, mostly, about what was available. My car is 19 years old and the front right end goes THUNK...THUNK....THUNK when I pull out of the garage. That sound goes away quickly, though.

Good question! I wanted a white one once and found one supposedly available at a dealership quite a distance, I went there and it turned out they didn't have it, I was sick and had a fever and spent hours laying on their couch (I was young enough to buy a car on a day I was sick, looking back on it I wonder about my common sense!) in the waiting room while they tried to find one at any other area dealership, they only managed to produce a blue one but gave me a free white pin-striping.
I was a lot more suspicious/careful the next time I car-shopped and really got a white one.

who knows, but you're right they are boring. I was just saying the other week as we drove along, that almost every car that passed us on a particular stretch of road was grey , black or silver... B.o.r.i.n.g!!

I would advise you, if you're getting ready to buy a new car, don't settle for anything less than a colour you like in the model you want.. you'll have the car for a long time..

If you are hearing a noise in your cars front end, you would be wise to have it checked out at a repair shop. It could easily be something like a ball joint or strut going bad. If you catch it in time, the repair costs might likely be less than $200....if you wait until it completely fails, you could wind up in the ditch with a totaled car.

Now is a Very Bad time to be buying a new, or even used, vehicle. With all the shortages, dealers are charging Way more than they would during more normal times. You might find that spending money to keep your present vehicle in good shape is a fraction of what you would spend on getting another car.

Not to derail, but my former company would give managers a car, based on the assumption the managers would give a detailed evaluation. One manager never drove his without the radio on full blast.

Have you considered going to the Honda website and using the build a car option? In theory when finished, it should give the location of the dealer with the option you desire... IF there is one nearby. Also in theory, they should help you find one that is available and have it shipped to their dealership.

Do yourself a favor. Honda is one of the most reliable cars in the world (as are all Japanese cars). The Accord is a bit larger, more comfortable & easier to get in & out of & doesn't cost much more.
Before choosing a Civic, I suggest you get in & out of it several times.

That's why I am sticking with that make. I've had mine 19 years (that's 69 in human years - see formula below) and it's still going strong. It has some scrapes and dings and the thumping in the front passenger side wheel well, but lately I've been treating it like a moving van.

When we bought our present car I was adamant that I didn’t want white, gray or black. I always hated the last gray one that we settled on. Got a pretty blue one. It may be our last car so happy that I like the colour.

Red is considered the colour that police give the most tickets too. Maybe it gives you a lead foot.

Deb, I had a teal colored car. I was sick of that color in no time. My next car was a neutral color and I asked for it when I e mailed the dealership. My next car will be neutral also. My stepfather got a dark blue car. It's a nice color but really shows dust and dirt.

I have an orange Subaru. I like the color because it stands out, and they didn't have a school bus yellow one. At least it won't blend in with winter, like most cars seem to. I am not fond of the actual color, but it is practical around here. They had no car colors I loved, and I wanted a Subaru.

My stepmother had her Civic for 20 years, no problems with it. My dad made her get a new Civic, and she really regrets doing that. She loved her old car. There were no problems with the new one.

My mom bought a Honda Accord in late 2018. She hated it because she didn't buy what she really wanted -- a CRV. I think she was trying to be practical.

My 2009 Hyundai Elantra decided to give up the fight. The AC would take $2000 alone to fix. I wanted a new RED Elantra. Within a 100 miles from me, there were only two dealership with new RED Hyundais- that's only 3 red cars in a radius of a hundred miles. That silver grey color is soooo bland. Yuk. ( My old one was grey).

I have an Audi A4 and I leased a Honda Accord for my cousin when she came to Dallas to live with my mother. Hondas are great cars, but my only complaint is that they have a high level of road noise. After my cousin moved back home I used to switch out between the A4 and the Accord, and I was so relieved to get into the Audi because it was so quiet. If you don't care about that, I would absolutely recommend Honda.

I'm not driving a "land yacht" in my Golden Years, but I do want something that is fairly quiet.

I would never drive anything except a Toyota. Now is a bad time to buy a new car with the "chip" problem. Have your problem checked out and keep driving your car. My Toyota has 30,000 actual miles and drives so well. I just don't drive much due to a shoulder injury.

My daughter is also aToyota fan, she prefers them over all others. Currently she has a new Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid... just about 11months old..
