what ones ?Nice....but what is the meaning of those "squiggly" pavement
markings??
do you mean the road...not the pavement?.. can you tell me how far into the video ?... if you mean the yellow squares in the middle of the road at the traffic lights that means no stopping...Those markings that zig-zag back and forth ???
yes we also have Hop on Hop Offs.... but the red London bus is the main form of public transport through London, there can be as many as 20 on one stretch of road at any one time...Thanks so much, enjoyed the ride, we have a couple of those buses here, they call them hop on hop off, they just tour you around town.
In 2005, my wife and I spent some weeks traveling in rural & small-town Scotland. We trained down from Inverness to London, only having five days to explore museums, galleries, outdoor antique fairs, pubs, etc. We took one of those double-decker bus tours (sat up top) and, of course, enjoyed it.
One memory that still makes me chuckle is from when we stood to look in through the metal gate at Buckinham Palace. I suppose we expected colourfully attired, tall-hatted Queens Guard marching with their shouldered rifles. We were immediately disabused of the false function of that squad, familiar from the television image. We realized their role is purely ceremonial, and saw that fellows without fancy dress but with automatic firearms in their hands were now entrusted with the real guarding. And what amused us was that those fellows passed the time by bantering & flirting with young-lady tourists who'd gather & look in from the other side of the main gate.![]()
Magna Carta, thanks for the response. Was that the case in 2005, when we were there?
I'll freely concede that what the situation seemed like to us was an untutored perception. We were not with a tour guide to whom we could put questions & from whom we might get answers.
thanks for watching Jace... I've just wtached it myself the whole way through, and noticed an annoying rattling all the way through it..I'm so sorry everyone.. I didn't realise..Neat! Thanks @hollydolly.
Was the store with all the flags hanging in front... Selfridge's?
