Hi parents of an Autistic child. I have a 25-year-old son with Autism. I'm in Northern California and he was transferred to a crisis center in Central California. I miss him dearly. What's a real bummer? I'm not able to drive there to see him. Thanks for the read and be well.

Ow, rough. Thank you for sharing that. Please know that you are heard.

Thanks, lovely Tulips. I've searched for methods of transportation there even a bus for that matter. Nothing. He was transferred to a very rural area. Maybe that's the problem. I don't know but once again, thanks for your kind words.

My SIL has a son who is on the autism scale. He was just constantly playing video games at 20 y/o. She encouraged him to join the Navy. He had a technical job aboard a ship that really seemed to give him a purpose in life. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury and was discharged. He is now 24 and living back at her house and playing video games. He has been given some chores that he faithfully fulfills but aside from that I don't see a pathway for him.

I feel for you. I've seen it first hand. I sincerely wish the best outcome for your son and hope you can see him soon.

There are a number of ride companies now (i.e. Uber, Lyft) that it wouldn't matter how rural a location is. I understand that they're expensive, but I think I'd (speaking only for myself, of course) pay whatever they'd ask to see my daughter. Have you researched those? I hope you can figure something out. And welcome to the forum! 🌷

I wondered who Quinn was, I thought he was your son. Beautiful name. My friend's son has many problems, autism not being one. He is in a nearby center to her, but she will not be allowed to visit him for two years. It is part of his therapy as he is court remanded. She is not even allowed telephone contact. However, she is allowed to drop off things he needs and to have long talks with those professionals helping him, and they are.

Are you allowed phone calls at least? Facetime or Zoom?

Hi! I'm so sorry for the late reply. Thanks for complementing our son's name. I'm glad to hear your friend's son's professionals are a big help for both she and her son. I just can't imagine a court would decide a mom from seeing her son especially being close in distance. I feel bad for both she and her son to boot. You are just an exceptional friend to your friend. I sure wish I had one of those. My absolute best to all (you included). Truly.
