Hospice Experience

Back in October, 2018, I was in Vitas Hospice because my Primary thought I was dying and he referred me to them. The doctor from Vitas Hospice agreed. For 3 weeks they waited and I waited to die. It never happened. Now, 4 years later at 87, death seems to becoming closer again. However, since no one can ever be sure, I just enjoy each day to the fullest playing chess at Chess.com, enjoying the company of my wife of 62 years and always being active to enjoy each day to the fullest. I wonder if any of you folks were in the same situation and how you handled the dying days and the days which followed.

My only experience with Hospice was with my mother. Hospice made it possible for her to die at home with as little pain as possible and with no hassle about trying to prolong her life. She was more than ready to go, that's how she wanted to go, and Hospice was a treasure to us.

They even hooked her up with medical Marijuana, which helped immensely, and she had many good laughs about becoming a pot-head at 95.

They were there with us the night she died and handled all the calls.

I had home hospice for my late wife. I had a lady stay with her while I went to work. I kissed her goodbye one morning, told her I loved her, and headed to work.
When I got to work, I had a phone call that she had just passed away.
