Something about two detectives,
in a movie,
in New York,
in winter
on a sidewalk
in raincoats and fedoras
steam coming from a nearby manhole
slightly raining

.....getting hotdogs and coffee from a hotdog cart

Watching them taking careful bites, from a paper wrapped hotdog
....then sipping piping hot coffee in a paper cup

Makes me hungry

I used to work at the Happy Chef in nearby town back in the 90s. The Chef had a button you could push so he could talk but...the sound was broken on him. The bottom image is a dress similar to the uniform dress we had to wear with hose and those nursing style shoes.

In the 1970s, I lived in NYC. You had to have a hotdog from a pushcart. The "chef" only spoke enough English to put what you asked for on your dog. There is this red sauce. Damn, they tasted good.

The great mystery about these hot dog stands is how they manage to appear at those moments when you are extremely hungry. On some level, that is magical to me, ... but then again my imagination can go into overdrive when I am hungry.
