House being trucked on highway

In Michigan we owned a house in the 1870's that had been built in 1925, according to the records. I had always wondered why it was set just slightly askew on the basement foundation and why one of the beams was iron and the other wood.

Finally, an elderly neighbor told me that in the early 1930's, the house had been moved to that location from somewhere further down the road and set down on a new foundation/basement.

He said it was set on wooden rollers and pulled by a team of horses to the final site.
