How Bad are Prices in Your Part of the World

That's $5.70 in US dollars, which does seem steep. Dairy Queen sells a large ice cream cone for $3.19.
When my brother was small, he'd walk up to a Mister Softee truck and get a cone, then just walk away without paying- what was the guy supposed to do? He had a line of kids waiting for ice cream.
Mom & dad tried to teach him not to rip Mr. Softee off. My brother knew my mom would take her sweet time getting change, and the truck would move on. She wasn't a big spender. Since he was small, he got away with it.

The local grocery store has been steadily price gouging, knowing that the locals are 'captive' and would have to drive 20+ miles round trip to shop in the city. Of course that means burning several gallons of price gouged gasoline...🤬

Just paid $20 for a brunch meal of Eggs sort-of Benedict-y. The food wasn't even good. Made me sad. The other guest paid $16 for three tiny tacos that didn't even come with a side dish. Also very sad!

The Egg McMuffin meal is now almost $10.

Used to be able tp get the special price of $4 for a 1/2 Subway sandwich. Now that deal has increased to $5. I think the regular price is now $7.00.

Our basic bi-weekly grocery list has looked about the same for 3 years.

3 years ago, it came to about $120. Currently, we pay a little more than double. And the items that push it up the most are bread, eggs, and some of the produce, in that order.

I can totally do without the bread. A loaf of Orowheat went from $2.80 to $5.50, they're smaller, and the bread tastes off lately. That's just an example.

I'm gonna tweak the whole list. I can make bread (believe that, or not). They're rolls, but that's fine, they do the same job. And I can make soups and stews; they're easy. Pasta and bean dishes are, too.

Our groceries, gas and car insurance are some of the highest in the country. Luckily no income tax and low property taxes help to even it out.

My wife is an expert at shopping to 1/2 price sales. I mostly stick with resale shops, garage sales and Amazing online sales.
Taxes sux, inflation suxs, The market is up. What if?

For groceries I favor Aldi's because they are much lower in prices than all the big names stores so I save going there. About once a month I go to a higher price store for a few things because I love some of this items like deli smoked turkey and swiss cheese 🤤

On Amazon I look for the bigger bargains and often get some things in bulk to save. I'm willing to spend a bit more on certain items but not many.

Our prices for food and gasoline have gone way up, just like everyone else is reporting, but overall the cost of living here in Alabama seems to be pretty good in comparison to some other places.
I have compared food prices with my son who lives in Washington State, and most items cost him more in the stores out there, even when it is the same store, like at a Walmart.

We seldom go out to eat, and never order delivery food, so I only buy basic food items and prepare our meals here at home, and we do not eats foods that are expensive, anyway.

They keep raising prices here for everything, or so it seems. The groceries are the most expensive but even things that used to be cheaper are now more expensive.
