How close are you to grocery stores?

I'm so spoiled ..... every place I need to go is within 15 minutes of me. It seems like I'm always running to the store for something or another. If I lived in the boondocks - I don't know what I'd do ! LOL

I too, live very close to every store I ever need to get to .... a mile or two in any direction takes me to stores, auto shop, doctor, library, and a dozen restaurants and fast food joints.

But then I still shop online ...:D

Fifteen minutes is probably the time I need to get to my not-quite-walkable grocery shopping. I have no car ( too old to continue with that) so I walk. I take with me a small grocery cart, plus a pack for my back. This works well, and gives me exercise.

Everything I need on a regular basis is within walking distance of my apartment.

Everything I want can be found within a five mile radius of my apartment.

I'm always looking for ways to satisfy my needs and wants by shopping from home, in preparation for the day when walking and driving may not be an option. It is amazing how much is available with a few clicks of the mouse, I feel bad for elderly folks that do not have or understand how to use a computer.

We live in the boondocks, but there is a nice little town about 3 miles..10 minutes, away...with an excellent grocery store, gas stations, hardware store, auto parts store, and a couple of good craft/sewing supply stores for the wife's favorite hobby. We could do nicely just shopping locally.

My two daughters take turns grocery shopping for me every other month each. Which means I must figure out what I'll need for a months worth of groceries each time. I've got it pretty much down what I'll need each month, but it ain't easy. lol

Everything I need is very close to me even doctors. I do like shopping online and take advantage of it. Most of the time I can avoid shipping charges.

No, it's not easy at all. My DIL shopped for me back when my hips got so bad before I had them replaced. Hard to figure out exactly what you'll need, plus with some things it's depending on how much it is this month, etc., and you miss out on seeing new things you'd like to try. I found it quite confining, so to speak.

The grocery store my children shop at now just recently started a website that lists, with pictures, all their products, which is great. However showing all those choices tempts me to put a check next to foods I should not eat. :) After the store has recorded what items I've checked, a clerk packs all of it into paper or plastic bags and all my children then need to do is give the time they'll pick them up and when they arrive at the store the clerk puts it into their cars. No more going up and down aisles looking for what's on my list. This is quite a relief to my children.

I have all the stores I shop at within about a 4 mile radius. Well, except for when I decide to shop at Walmart, which is further. When I was a bit more mobile, I used to walk to the store about a mile away. But that was if I did not need a lot, as part of my walk home would have been uphill.

I have the best of both worlds, really. Live in the boondocks, peace and quiet and nature. But all I have to do is drive out a quarter mile,up the hill, then down the hill and I am at the grocery store, CVS, bank, pizza place and numerous other small shops. Another five minutes and I`m at the hospital and pretty much all of the doctor`s offices in town. Works really well for me.

Large Kroger grocery store... 1 1/2 blocks. We get 90% of our groceries there and 100% of prescriptions. Our dog and I walk up to the pharmacy drive up whenever they call with one ready. The dog stands up, puts her feet on the window sill and looks in through the glass. She knows if they see her, she gets a treat. We've had up to four cars in front of us before, but wait our turn so she can get a treat.

Bank, various other shopping in that same center. Full medical complex about 3/4 mile. On the dog and my 3 mile walks every day. we walk past the front of the hospital.

One of the reasons for not choosing a retirement community. Smith's, Albertson's, Walmart Neighborhood market & Von's all within walking distance.

I have 3 large grocery stores within 5 miles of driving distance. I still drive to one of them every two weeks, once
I give up driving I will look into ordering online and having delivery service. As I live in a retirement complex I am
seriously considering going down to the dining room for my main meal once a day; that will cut down on my
grocery shopping considerable.

We lived in a retirement community in Arizona that had 3 super markets, 2 gas stations, 2 hardware stores, a car wash, a hospital, and a funeral parlor. There were 29,000 residents in mostly private homes.
