Just wondering how you rate this forum in terms of friendliness and ability to make friends with others.

It suits me, I enjoy playing the Word Games mainly but post a comment now and then, not really looking to make friends but everybody seems nice, easy going and respectful of each other's views. :eek:k:

If you banned politics, there's always someone who will stick in their oar whenever possible

to promote their own agendum. Might as well leave things the way they are.

We can always skip their posts if we don't like their style.

Agree with Falcon. Folks with an agenda would just infect other light-hearted threads and ruin the mood there. And the *real* agenda may not be the obvious one.

I think you worry far too much about courtesy, Matrix. Some of the offense taken is contrived, imo.

Here is a suggestion for you.... If a member continues to report posts to the mods as being offensive, and very few others do, it might be time to consider perhaps the complainer is the problem. I trust your judgement more.

A forum without controversy like politics is not worth subscribing to.

I can play games on my cell phone.

You learn all about people in the politics forum and if you don't like politics well you can just scroll on by.

By the way I post in just about all topics.

I love that it's user-friendly - especially so for someone who is limited to one-hand hunt and peck typing due to a shoulder injury. There are plenty of different topics to just browse or to interact with others. Never boring. Always something of interest to speak to or to just quietly ponder.

I'm wondering if the forum would be more friendly if we ban politics.

I don't think that would be a good idea. I like to get others opinions on politics and current events...it helps me make up my own mind. Politics are a very important part of our lives, and only by observing others opinions, can we hope to reach a conclusion that hopefully helps us all. Ignoring politics is just what the extremists would have us do.

Since politics is reserved to one sub-forum, which we can unsubscribe to if we so desire, it suits me. I try to stay out of that discussion, as I joined this forum for friendly discussion, and to learn things about retirement, and such benefits.

IMO... a good well rounded forum should have something for everyone.. That includes those who love a good political discussion, and from what I have seen around the internet.. this political subforum is very tame. When one tires of the back and forth, there are other sections to go to.. and not every section suits everyone. I stay out of the ones I have no interest in.

I really enjoy it. You mentioned politics which is a subject I'm not interested in nor do I care for endless debates. I simply excluded it from the forums list. Same thing with the games. I have a friend on Facebook who puts endless political comments, photos, etc. I can't keep up blocking these posts. On this forum I've haven't had one problem.

I have already banned the politics from my viewing! Plenty of that elsewhere on the media/internet!

Thanks everyone for your input. Many times I seriously wanted to ban politics when good members were driven away by heated political discussions, or a nice member became rude and aggressive when posting in politics, or when the political forum was full of hatred despite 95% moderation time was spent on politics.

But, as you all suggested, everyone has the option to ignore the political forum, and a dedicated forum is better than scattered discussions. So, banning politics will not be considered in the future.

I see where you are coming from and completely understand wanting to ban politics. If I were you I woul want to, too. Peace to you all. Ruth

So glad to have found this forum, a breath of fresh air compared to other forums I have seen where people are just rude and obnoxious . Even when I have ventured into political topics here, everyone has been civilized, and I do enjoy reading other points of view from intelligent people. Thanks for a great site!
