How do you wind down in the evening?

Every evening after dinner, I read daily devotion guide 'Upper Room',selection from the Bible as I'm listening to local classical radio station. Then I tackle the daily NYT crossword which usually takes me 15- 30 min to finish
After that I'll read my book or magazine
Around 8:30-8 :45 I'll turn on TV start'channel surfing' looking for something to watch
I'm in bed around 9:45

I don't. It's awful.

If there is a show on that I can really become engrossed in, that will help a great deal. Right now I just jump on the treadmill. It's not working.

I don't.

In fact, I've had a terrible relationship with sleep my entire life. I've always been someone who went on until I couldn't go any more. That's when I slept.

Many moons ago I discovered I could get by on three to four hours a day. It involved taking naps at set times. I loved that (it was great for studying and working on complex projects). Of course, it's not healthy - it's just more hours. Not to mention, I couldn't do that now.

I always have something I'd much rather be doing than sleeping. Man, my relationship to sleep is your worst kind of dysfunctional relationship. Frankly, it's immature and silly. I can't overcome the feeling that I'm missing out on doing something.

That said, I was prescribed a medication to take in the evenings, and one of the side effects is tiredness. It works. These days, an hour to two hours after taking it, I have an irresistible need to sleep, which is better. Still, it's forced as it were.
