Accept Life as it Comes

Had some tests done yesterday. Nothing unexpected but don’t like to see it actually printed out. During procedure I was telling nurse about loosing my husband and she said her husband has dementia. Everyone has problems and heartbreaks. I still miss hubby like crazy but I need to get up put my house and finances in order and keep moving forward. So for 2025 accepting life as it comes is going to be my mantra.

woke early... had devotions, watched the dawn arrive, prepped some veggies for later today, going over goals for year

I would like to engage more with people, provide more hospitality... cut down on mindless computer time (YouTube, FB, etc) and increase things that help with my concentration

Now sipping some peach/ginger tea and catching up with y'all. Have a great day!

In spite of dire warnings, the weather today has been OK so far. It's cold, but dry and fairly bright. Next door neighbours had a noisy, but thankfully short fireworks party in their back garden at midnight. They are good enough neighbours, but are the sort who would spend a fortune on fireworks and then complain about the cost of matches.

Not doing much today. I'll probably make lasagne for dinner and then watch TV.

I haven't been here for a couple days because I got an head cold on Xmas Eve, so my 1st Xmas living here at Canterbury Woods didn't go as planned I couldn't;t go to Marcia&Dave's for Xmas Eve dinner, she brought it to me which was nice of her
I didn't realize how sick I was until Marcia&Dave's youngest son,Alexei took me Mon afternoon to a local urgent care center. The nurse practioner Heather who was very nice diagnosised me with pneumonia, I'm now taking 4 meds, getting rest, keeping hydrated. I never had shortness of breath, since its getting cold outside I'm not going out for my daily walks. Instead I'm walking the hallway a couple times/ day. I've been wearing a mask wherever I go in the building, been picking up my meals as well
I feeling better no longer sound like Kermit the Frog LOL!

Oh Poor you Sue, ..what a way to start the new year...I hope you feel better soon..Pneumoni is no fun...

I'd like to say my New Year started of with a bang but it was more like a chirp! Fire alarm battery decided to die around 3A.M., we've all been there, right? First you lay there hoping it won't keep chirping, but it does, so your forced out of bed. Then you have to find which one is dying, (I have seven) so you position yourself in a strategic position and wait...and wait, then just when your attention wanders CHIRP!, but your head was turned wrong so you can't pinpoint the direction, you end up chasing to chirp around your house for twenty minutes. You wait, it chirps, you move, wait again, move again. Upstairs? Basement? Hallway? Such fun in the middle of the night!

Hopefully that's the worst thing that happens to me in 2025. Happy New Year everyone!

Sitting here, going through SF reading posts while drinking a cup of coffee and watching the news with the updates on New Orleans incident.

Looking out the window, seeing big snowflakes fall. Temperature is falling and expecting snow the next few days. Hoping the lake effect snow stays North of us.

Have laundry to do today because tomorrow we will be up early and heading to the local hospital for my husbands MRI's. Then Friday, to another hospital 75 miles away, for surgery to have a chemo-port put in his chest. Next week, chemo starts. He was diagnosed with a new lung cancer in November, after having a lung biopsy.

We are keeping optimistic and take it one day at a time.

Making a pork loin & Kraut with baby red mashed potatoes for dinner today.

@Trila I did get them all gathered up and in the same place. The trick now is to keep them corralled.

Morning chores done except for making the bed and getting dressed. Made sausage/egg/cheese biscuits for the crew next door. They're up...I can hear their nuke box humming to heat up the biscuits.

I gotta go outside when it warms up a little and gather up all the debris from yesterday's wind. Lots of downed branches again.

Our high temp yesterday was 76. It's only 37 right now and probably won't get to 50 today.

Is it spring yet?

ETA: I forgot. Chores aren't all done. There's a sink full of dirty dishes to wash

And I've been voluntold that I'm making the traditional ham, greens and black-eyed peas for dinner.

@moviequeen1 Take care! Pneumonia is nothing to fool with. The more rest you get now, the sooner you'll feel better.
