SO is back home so all is well. He brought two buckles from the play date - each a Top Ten placement. Not bad considering participants from 29 countries.

Last night we got the rain for the last two months all in a couple of hours. It is Oklahoma! There is nothing moderate but always either/or. The Sooners were and are a tough breed.

Had a conversation with the dentist's office after I received the insurance statement plus a check for their schedule of charges with rest due by patient. When I checked in they forgot to tell me that they dropped out of BC/BS network and have not had time to notify patients. They decided used to play ball:) SO will share that with colleagues using the same dentist. A neighbor put it on Nextdoor.

Finishing a pot of coffee, watching Izzi's fur grow, enjoying the first bright yellow spots in the drab yard - daffodils, the harbingers of Spring.
 

Well I can only tell you that this handyman is an absolute diamond find...

He's a cockney londoner.. who never stops chatting.. but i have to say what a fabulous worker. ..Super Fast ...and really cheap...

He had my barn roof all fixed, and the new bolts and the latch straightened out on my 6 foot side gate by mid-day.. he didn't start until after 9.30am....and they are fabulous jobs.. so neat , and firmly fixed...

Then he assembled my new standard lamp... then measured, then attached all the picture wire to my big picture frames , drilled the holes in the walls and hung my heavy pictures..all expertly measured out....to match the existing ones...

..then he took down my old rose trellis from the wall on the front of my house and attached a brand new wooden trellis.. screwed and bolted into the wall...and finally he fixed the kitchen door where it had come half off when I fell against it last year..people will remember who were here then..

...and after all that he was finished by 3pm..... fantastic !!

These are jobs that have been waiting to be done for the last year.. and I'm over the moon I found someone trustworthy and most importantly superb at his job... and it's all done now...

Incidentally the sun has been shining right down on us today, really warm in my garden which made it much more pleasant for the HM to be working out there on the barn....

In the meantime, the Charity shop guys delivered the drawers..My goodness these guys were giants.. both of them must have been almost 7 feet tall... I asked them if they would take the drawers upstairs for me and they did... mostly here in the Uk when furniture is delivered they normally will only deliver it to the ground floor.. so it's always nice if someone will agree to take something upstairs...

Now at 4.15pm, the sky is very blue still but it's starting to feel very cold again....

I’m so glad you found a reliable handyman, @hollydolly That is a load off your mind, I know

As to the delivery guys carrying the new furniture upstairs, I wish my daughter had had them when she bought a new dryer at one of the large appliance stores. She mentioned getting it into the house by herself… I was like, “didn’t they bring it in when they delivered it?” She said, “oh they helped me load it in my truck at the store, that was it”.

I don’t know if the delivery price was ridiculous or what but when Ive bought appliances they’ve been delivered and set up. 😑

I can believe it .. it's just beyond ridiculous...CS

When we first bought our house in Spain, we could not believe the service we got from the furniture stores.. Not only did they deliver, but they set the whole thing up wherever we wanted the room layout they set it for us.... they'd set the tv up and tune it in .. they'd hang the pictures on the walls.. wherever we wanted them, they even hung the curtains if we wanted them to ...it was absolutely fantastic. we couldn't believe it..

....here if they could get away with just taking your money and not delivering at all , I'm sure they would....

I have never come across a furniture/appliance store which would not deliver and/or hook up. Sometimes there is a fee or a annual membership which covers all deliveries for a year.

a fee or annual membership for a year ?.. what ?.. what are the chances of anyone buying more than one large item of furniture in any one year?..you wouldn't get your money's worth.. and why should you have to pay extra, it's crazy....

It depends what you refer to as "your money's worth. $99 included full additional warranties and delivered a full set of furniture for a bedroom including set up and replacing one piece within a week. A mattress requiring two to carry for our bedroom and disposal of the old one. Mattress was exchanged after I poured a cup of coffee over it. Several oriental rugs were delivered, laid out, moved around (color depends on direction). There is no way I can lift our dining table to get a rug under it not to mention moving the beast for 10 several times.

well as I just said we get all of that delievered and set up for us in every room in our home in Spain, they'll even hang the curtain and the pictures ..no extra cost....no delivery cost...

This is large plate....a dinner plate, but on here are 3 stuffed pancakes one with bananas & Maple syrup.., one with jam and strawberries and one with chocolate and maple syrup...with cream in the middle and blueberries.. dusted with icing sugar..wow !

i think my neighbours love me :love:... he said just now .. don't forget if you ever need me for anything just give me a shout....

They're both just a bit younger than my daughter with 3 children .. and it seems they just feel I need feeding for some reason..lol... bless their hearts it's very kind... but in reality that plate will take me 3 days to eat

where do you live ?...I'm lucky apart from when it's really cloudy, I see lots of stars in the sky at night if I step into the garden..
