No more procrastinating. Well, maybe a little. Too many things to be done around the house and what I actually need to do is less walking. It cuts into the chore times in the morning and afternoon. So I’ll continue dusting, vacuuming, packing things up to give away. I’m not even going to touch my desk. One catastrophe at a time.

Was planning on going out to get fresh greens, food, etc.
Got my shower, washed and blow dried my hair, even put on some makeup.
Then I looked at the temp. STILL 45-46 degrees!!!!
And STILL windy as all get out!!
And it is raining!! The first rain I have seen in 12 months!! Jesus may be returning??!!

Think I will stay IN, bake scratch biscuits and have soup broth for dinner.
Pray for better weather tomorrow and thus not muss up the car wax job with this "rain".

Just as I was getting ready to leave, I got a call canceling my appointment. I'm so glad! I really did not want to go out in these temperatures, and was considering not going today. So it all worked out well. Instead of going out in the frigid cold, I've spent the whole day sitting in front of the woodstove! Ahhhhhh......much better!

Since retiring in February 2017 I had not caught a single head cold but now have at least a weak one. Went Tahoe skiing Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures at resort yesterday were down in upper teens F. Apparently caught something Sunday at church or at a supermarket. Started showing signs on the Monday dawn drive that I was not successful at knocking out because that is not likely to be successful out in cold temperatures while skiing and then in some unfamiliar lodging to sleep. Was able to stall it till this morning but had become too entrenched in a right side sinus.

Over working decades despite lots of others during winters around me in corporate offices and labs being sick, I might catch just one cold every 3 years or so. It does happen.

Note though no virus head colds, in November 2022 I did catch rare for this person influenza after attending the 3-day Hardly Strickly Bluegrass Festival with 400,000 others, and then a month later while still weak was one of the last to come down with COVID-19. Hopefully this weak sinus head cold virus will not last and I'll be back up skiing in a few days. But will see how that goes. I have enjoyed 6 days of quite strenuous skiing so far.

The one thing I miss most is sitting in front of my wood stove. ❤️ Before I'm done, I'm going to figure a way to safly install one here in this Florida house. Lord knows, I have enough tree's on this property to stay warm for the rest of my life. :)

Talk about bad luck....my daughter sent a text late last night saying that she broke her foot and was just back home after going to an urgent care facility. They gave her a boot and a pair of crutches and instructions to visit her Dr. today.

She had never used crutches before and on her way to Dr. she fell and broke her other foot. Unbelievable. What a way to start a new year.

OMG !!!! That poor girl.... I bet she's wondering what she's done to deserve that !

Not a firearms person and never had any in the house, but I do have some budget-priced single-shot target BB guns left from when the boys were in Scouts.

Moving things around and throwing stuff out, a found a few packages of paper targets for them. So I broke the guns down and oiled them, reassembled them. Today it's cold but getting out of the house at all is welcome. I spent a few hours out there with a target set up and sighted in the target rifle and pistol I'd serviced.
You'll shoot your eye out kid.

Oh no! They might have her checked for osteoporosis. I found out I had it after breaking my wrist easily.

It's 20F here with windchill of 10. The storm is supposed to hit around 6 or 7 tonight. Ugh. As long as we don't lose power, I'm good.

Laundry today. Maybe vacuum up kitty hair and stuff. I dunno if I should get wild and crazy and dust...

DGS should be back just before the storm hits, but DD and I won't relax until he's actually in his driveway.

Y'all stay warm and dry, and Californians check in as you're able.

Good morning all folks!! Cold as heck still 11F out there....guess
I won't do a grocery delivwery today as there is still ice on drive
and don't want a fall/injury lawsuite....So a bit of laundry today and thats about it....saw mail man go on by yesterday, may do
that again, they are getting tuff on the snow blockage,,,,,hell with them, I'm not gonna go out for nothing, and not gonna hire someone just to clean that snow off of one spot....seems like the P.O. has gotten very spoiled in recent years, which is
amazing as they barely get the job done these days without
charging more....okay enuff rant from me....hips are loudly
complaining about arthritis today/yesterday....ah well....enuff....

It is blowing and white stuff is sticking. Fire place and snuggles day! Roads and schools are closed. I will move my MRI to next week.
Yesterday marked six months since ChaChaCat left us.
Geothermal needs a coil. Again! SO is thinking about replacing the system instead.
I need to go to SS OKC office to drop off an assessment appeal. Yes, mail in is possible but I want a receipt.

We have exactly the same problem here with the PO.... the more they get the less they want to do for it... now they're hardly delivering post. Many reports of people only getting post once a week..instead of daily

We've gone from 2 deliveries a day in just a few years to just 2 a month in some places...

where do you live.. ?

You'll never guess what the assessment nurse told me...

At Christmas I had gel nails and expensive polish put on... was told by the nurse that I had to have them taken off... so that's going to cost £30...now, I understand why they have to come off..so i'll do that.

I was also told that as I'm having the surgery the day I go into hospital, I have to starve myself from the day before..and only drink water or juice.....again something you expect...
..but here's the rub... I have to pay to have my expensive gel nails removed.. starve myself.. and then she said...''just be aware than when you arrive on the morning ( 6.30am)... there may not be a bed for you ''..she said.. this is a bed blocking time of year, lots of elderly and people with winter illnesses... so there's a real possibility you won't get a bed.

Well I have never heard this before. I felt that if they've offered you the time and date for surgery, they've arranged a bed for you.. I could hardly believe what I was hearing.

I didn't question her because she's just the messenger, but afterwards i thought, good grief what is this country coming to..it's starting to feel like 3rd world ..

I'm not in the least bit happy, that I have to go through all the steps. paying to have my nails removed ,.. ( and being unable to drive to get my nails fixed afterwards for 4 weeks at least)... starving myself from the previous night.. and paying for a Cab to get me to the hospital on the morning( £65)... and then potentially being turned away !

Headed into town in the afternoon. We'll run errands, of course. Plus, we've been invited to an early evening preview of something a local film maker, and her crew of actors and technical people, have put together. We'll watch some pilot episodes for a sitcom TV program. Wine & cheese and all that.

What's on my mind, too, is a meeting I've organized for the environmental group I work in. At the core we're unpaid volunteers. But every year we carry out river conservation/restoration projects, and that requires a certain amount of money for the wherewithal. So now the aim is to improve the tracking of our finances so the board of directors can be more clear about where we stand, and how much work we can take on.
