I don't know if I properly thanked you for this: Early in the pandemic, you mentioned buying an extra case of Costco shelf-stable almond milk for backup. I copied your action, have continued it, and even extended it to soy and oat milks. (I devised a Frankestein combination of the three for a creamy mix to lighten my coffee. Almond is my go-to for other uses).

The cases are compact, Costco's SS plant milk prices are the best I've found for plant milks, SS or fresh, and the long expiration dates mean no worries about it spoiling before I'm ready to pop it in the fridge to use a container.

Thanks again for that!
You're welcome, of course. I'm glad I told you about something helpful. I guess it's ironic but I've stopped drinking the Kirkland almond milk that came in cases several months ago. The cartons in last two cases I got had some sort of residue at the bottom that would pour out when I got near the end. That was not appetizing. At the same time, I found that I really like Wholesome Pantry sweetened almond milk, which is a Shoprite product and available at our local supermarket. It has to be refrigerated, but I can walk to the store and get one or two 1/2 gallons anytime.
I've never tried the other milks you mentioned. I thought about trying oat milk (also available at our local supermarket) but decided not to.

My 5 year old great-granddaughter just burst into my house anxious to go to the birthday party for my youngest son who is 39 years old today and a middle school principal. She has a 20” world globe for his office desk and says she’s craving a piece of cake. We’re now going to go for a walk to the town dog park to watch the puppies run, stumble and tumble. I’m VERY happy she’s not asking me to go skateboarding with her again, my backside can’t handle that anymore.
Skateboarding is great but falling is another story .

I've had that issue when I didn't shake the containers thoroughly before using. Having made almond milk from almonds, I'm familiar with some of the nut solids not fully dissolving so it doesn't bother me, but it's understandable that you found them off-putting.

I strictly buy unsweetened, unflavored plant milks and only use the oat and soy as part of my coffee creamer concoction.

Good Morning, Everyone 🤗 🌻 :coffee:

I was confused about the delivery day of my spin bike and it actually came yesterday!

We've done the minimal assembly and it's all set up in the master bedroom. I've had one ride and it's comfortable enough and surprisingly quiet.

My one little compliant is that it came with those metal, jagged edged petals that require shoes. I prefer to treadmill or bike (indoors) in bare feet which is not possible with those type of petals.

It's a minor thing though and I'll wear shoes for now and order some replacement petals on Amazon.

Hope everyone is feeling good this morning. :)

I have a spin bike and I love it! Hope you can sort the pedals out. I bought my bike at the end of lock down as I didn't want to go back to the gym. :)

So I did wind up doing more stuff today. I worked on my taxes a little. I couldn't find my SSA 1099. For some reason, I couldn't get into my SS account via Login.gov (I swear that site doesn't work after hours), but got the figures I needed from my Family Budget Planner (FBP) spreadsheet. I also updated the FBP with our purchases from yesterday. I had to figure what my son spent, add it to his spreadsheet, then what I spent for the various categories I've designated. I will also have to clean up the kitchen and do not want to wait too late to do that.

As long as you land on your backside you have a 50/50 chance.

Saturday night is when I make the sourdough dough. I take out a container of made ahead mix. I'll add water and starter and make the dough. Then I'll will do the five stretch and folds and cover the bowl to rise overnight. Tomorrow I'll bake it. A loaf lasts us just about a week. This week though, I made homemade butter so the loaf didn't last as long. 😉
The fast life.

Can we chat about that one day in two weeks please?

Sue..I personally I think this has been pneumonia..I've had it twice in the past so I know the symptoms, but of course being unable to see a doctor I can't be sure.. .. it's stil ongoing, I'm still taking the meds, and the cough is still bad.. but at least it's better than it has been this last few days..
It does sound like pneumonia HD. Take care of yourself dear.

Lovely blue skies today but still a little chilly. Had a nice day visiting relatives. On the way home, I decided to pop into the shops and then walk home.

On the way home, there was a guy walking a Rottweiler and suddenly the Rottweiler went crazy! The guy struggled to control the Rottweiler until he grabbed the thick collar around it's neck, dragged the dog up and held it in a bear hug so it was on it's hind legs, one arm below it's neck and the other arm across it's body and held it there until it calmed down. It seemed the Rottweiler had spotted a dog further up the street, coming out of a building with it's owner. The second dog remained calm and just walked away so, fortunately, there was no bloodshed but, scary how quickly that Rottweiler reacted.

Yes! I started doing that a couple years ago. I just keep regular milk. I told my daughter and now she keeps it for emergency. You've given me an idea though to get some almond milk as DH drinks that.
I write the expiration date on top even though its there. I like it in bold sharpee so I can see it at a glance.

Happy Saturday, folks. I've been feeling a bit tired today, and I can't seem to get warm, not even from sitting in the sunshine on the teeny, tiny patio.

@hollydolly I'd thought that too, about either RSV or pneumonia. No experience with RSV, but if it's pneumonia, don't forget about the weeks-long recovery. My grandmother, a nurse, swore that the key to getting better (from anything!) was canned chicken noodle soup and ginger ale. Camomile tea won't hurt, either.

No monkey grass got moved this morning, and there are flowers that want planting, but I just don't have the strength or energy to plant them. If we're still standing after tonight's predicted severe storms, maybe that will get done tomorrow.

Right now we're at a level 4 of 5 levels of severity. High winds. Hail. Rain. And tornadoes. Please God they miss us, and we don't lose power.

If I can muster up the energy, I'll go out later and batten down the hatches and stuff. If I can't muster up the energy, maybe it won't blow too far away.
I agree with your grandmother on all counts.
We will get that weather after you. It's already very breezy. I'll get the rest of my neighbors leaves I suppose. If that's all the cost I'm good with that. We dodged any tornadoes last time.

There you go again, making presumptions
Our Oklahoma circle is accounted for and will be taken care of. Georgia is not yet accounted for and local airports are basically closed. We are waiting for details from Missouri.
I do not ever again want to see a friend identified by a mangled wedding band. My truck has a full surgical kit, a bottle of bourbon and a chainsaw. All got used and not once in Georgia. My mother lives in Georgia by choice.
Out!

I remember my father forcing us to drink a shot of whiskey sometimes when we had colds. The "medicine" was worse than the cold.

Wonder if that's why I have always had a strong aversion to brown liquors.
Or why we became alcoholic. 😜 😁
