The Mercedes van that I had hoped to convert into a camper van but never found the time, has now found a new home and the bank balance looks much healthier.
The tailor who makes the rest of my wardrobe, rest meaning that which my wife doesn't, asked for a photo of me wearing the grey blazer. As it's Sunday I wore it to church, where, after the service, it elicited favourable comments.
There's a rather good pub/restaurant that I had hoped to book a table for lunch today. Not a chance, it was booked up solid.
After church I dropped my wife off at home, she had kindly volunteered to cook today's lunch, I then went off to get a couple of ID photos for a replacement driver's licence, after which I had the car washed, then, on an impulse, I called into that pub. The place was absolutely packed. At the desk I explained how disappointed we were, and I was told that today's popularity is probably an over-spill from St. Valentines Day.
Whilst there, I booked a table for next Sunday, the fellow taking the booking quipped: "If I had known that you were going to turn up dressed like that I would have set you up a table in the kitchen, that being the only space left. We laughed and shook hands. On the way out a couple of ladies, from a group of friends, admired the blazer, one saying, "that's how real gentlemen once dressed." Oh wow, what a compliment.
Later on this evening we are off to see a local band
The Boogie Bumpers, they are actually playing at the same place that we missed out on, for lunch that is. They are a great band and play songs from the era. We are not able to dance yet, the lady's heart is still in recovery, but we can watch others and enjoy the music.
This is the blazer that all the fuss was about.
