Sue..I personally I think this has been pneumonia..I've had it twice in the past so I know the symptoms, but of course being unable to see a doctor I can't be sure.. .. it's stil ongoing, I'm still taking the meds, and the cough is still bad.. but at least it's better than it has been this last few days..
I'd guess you're right, based on your symptoms and my single experience with pneumonia about 30 years ago. I was very ill with cough, fever, exhaustion, etc., but what stood out was the terrible pain in my lungs. I'd never experienced anything like that with the flu, bad colds, or even bronchitis.

I sure hope you're on the mend and will ignore the temptation to jump back into your normal busy life too soon. Rest, rest, rest.

I woke with a sore swollen middle finger that I injured yesterday watering a plant. I picked up the hose and it had some small sticks attached. I moved the hose and one of the small sticks stuck in my finger. I pulled it out and went to doctor it up with soap and water, antibiotic cream and a small bandage. I thought it was okay but this morning, it is swollen and I can't bend or use it. Other than that things are okay.

I don't know if I properly thanked you for this: Early in the pandemic, you mentioned buying an extra case of Costco shelf-stable almond milk for backup. I copied your action, have continued it, and even extended it to soy and oat milks. (I devised a Frankestein combination of the three for a creamy mix to lighten my coffee. Almond is my go-to for other uses).

The cases are compact, Costco's SS plant milk prices are the best I've found for plant milks, SS or fresh, and the long expiration dates mean no worries about it spoiling before I'm ready to pop it in the fridge to use a container.

Thanks again for that!
That's a great idea; I should get on that, really. It's nice to have long storage milks so you're never out.

I always have shelf stable milk in 2 litre cartons in the barn .. currently there's 3 boxes of 6 , 2 litre cartons.. so about 36 litres.. about 10 gallons...

They have a shelf life of about a year or more...so their handy if I cant get to the supermarket or farm shop for fresh milk..

We call those, "Tetra Paks," and they look like this:

Same for you?

It's a beautiful sunny day today.. and I have all the windows open and the back door, depsite it being only 49 deg f... because after the last few days of illness, i just want some fresh air going right through the house..

i did the laundry and now it's drying ..again on the rack in the house which I hate....

however what was worse was that I had to wash up a sink full of cups from the last few days where I just didn't have the strength to wash up... *ugh* .. anyway regardless of how rubbish I feel , the kitchen is clean the laundry is done, and I even managed to run the vac over the kitchen floor and foyer...

Happy Saturday, folks. I've been feeling a bit tired today, and I can't seem to get warm, not even from sitting in the sunshine on the teeny, tiny patio.

@hollydolly I'd thought that too, about either RSV or pneumonia. No experience with RSV, but if it's pneumonia, don't forget about the weeks-long recovery. My grandmother, a nurse, swore that the key to getting better (from anything!) was canned chicken noodle soup and ginger ale. Camomile tea won't hurt, either.

No monkey grass got moved this morning, and there are flowers that want planting, but I just don't have the strength or energy to plant them. If we're still standing after tonight's predicted severe storms, maybe that will get done tomorrow.

Right now we're at a level 4 of 5 levels of severity. High winds. Hail. Rain. And tornadoes. Please God they miss us, and we don't lose power.

If I can muster up the energy, I'll go out later and batten down the hatches and stuff. If I can't muster up the energy, maybe it won't blow too far away.

@Georgiagranny ..thanks for your grandmothers' advice but I don't like canned soup nor ginger ale so sadly I'll have to struggle on without them.. :sneaky:

the last time I got pneumonia was about this time of year and snow was thick on the ground.. I'd been bedridden for 10 days, with the doctor coming into the house to give me injections to help me breathe on a daily basis .. so I was desperate to get some fresh air the first day I felt i could get up and walk,,, what a mistake that was,,, I went out all wrapped up got a few feet from the front door, and my lungs froze basically and I couldn't move .. I could see the front door so close and yet so far.. I just couldn't move to get back..

Agree on all counts. Costco's Kirkland shelf stable/tetra pack are in quart size containers. (Almond and soy are packaged in cartons of 12, oat is 6 per box). A big bonus to SS milks is their small refrigerator footprint once you open them.

Like Holly, I have plenty of pantry storage, so no burden keeping extra cases on hand.

@hollydolly But but but! My grandmother knew about this stuff! Nobody said you had to actually like canned chicken noodle soup and ginger ale, just that you should consume them!
I remember my father forcing us to drink a shot of whiskey sometimes when we had colds. The "medicine" was worse than the cold.

Wonder if that's why I have always had a strong aversion to brown liquors.

I don't remember when he started that "treatment" but I was for sure still in single digit age. Ugh is right.

My parents weren't big drinkers - don't recall ever seeing either of them drink whiskey. They threw a lot of dinners and other parties, and likely had it for guests.

my father had it for the specific use for ailments..he didn't drink at all. My mother did drink but never whisky or Brandy... my paternal granddfather was a whisky drinker.. I never ever knew him without the smell of whisky on his breath.. and because of that I just presumed all granddads smelled like that.. that they all drank whisky... lol

Wut wo. Our governor just declared a state of emergency for the entire state of Georgia. In advance of the expected storms. Eeeeek! You know to expect the worst when the state of emergency is declared in advance.

Guess I need to muster up that energy that was mentioned in my earlier post and haul my bony butt outside to secure everdamnthang🌪️🌪️

Here's hoping the tornado sirens are in working order. They didn't get tested the first Wednesday of the month like they're supposed to.

BTW @hollydolly, I bet if you ask @CinnamonSugar she'll confirm the prescription of chicken noodle soup and ginger ale. There are some things that are tried and true and medically⚕️proven. Jussayin'

Another thing: My grandfather always smelled like cigars. Sure glad he never tried to make any of us smoke one for medicinal purposes! LOL

lol @Georgiagranny Drop me right in the 💩. I agree those foods usually help but I’m sure @hollydolly has her own therapeutic foods

Thanks for the head-up on the state of emergency. I’ll make sure we r ready

You know I'm really irritated because I was supposed to be going to the car show today which is held outside.. and it's a beautiful sunny day, the first time it hasn't rained for the car show in 4 years... and I was so looking forward to it. and of course I'm not well enough to go out...

here's some from previous years...
