Just got back from town... it's much warmer than I thought it was.. a really glorious sunny day. I was going to just go and take photos of the local farmland on my way home , but I decided that maybe I'll wait for another day, and just came straight home instead

I will go in a little while and cut back the IVY over the shed.... it grows like crazy, so it's important to keep it cut back....and my gardener doesn't touch the IVY... he would if I asked him, but he'd charge me more money, so I do it myself...:D

Wow, that's really beautiful, @hollydolly!

Left the house just after 5am, all was quiet in the neighborhood, didn’t hear or see any elk. Just less than 2 hours later I’m in the tree.

NW wind blowing a steady 12 mph gusting to ~20 mph. The temp dropped to 41F, as the wind carries the cold air down off the nearby mountain ridge tops. It’s the first hunt I can actually say that I’m cold.

All was quiet on my arrival at the parking spot. Hiked in to the river crossing and as I was putting on my rubber boots in the dark , an elk bugled about 50yds west of me. It’s pretty impressive to hear them that close!

There were a couple elk moving around in the vicinity of my tree, so after re changing boots I covered my face and hands and hunted my way to the tree.

The season closes a week from yesterday so I have a few more hunts left. The last 2 days might be rainy so that’ll hopefully be a stimulus for elk activity.

This morning, moved the fold-away couch back from my carport back into my living room that now has a mild lemongrass oil smell, though much less than yesterday while drying. An uncommon tropical system has moved up our coast to the south in Central California, creating thunderstorms with much lightning in the Santa Lucia Range and Monterey. Forecast shows we are just likely to receive a few light showers. After the coming weekend, a much more serious cold front is forecast to move through the region. For some photography, I may drive over to the east side of the Sierra Nevada where quaking aspen groves are now in fall leaf color as snow is forecast above 8000 feet.

After a couple weeks of short nights (not being able to fall asleep soon enough), I finally got a great night's sleep. I felt so good I put the bedding in to wash and started the dishwasher. Then I was wiping down the kitchen and found that there is (apparently) no way to wipe lightly enough to not confuse the dishwasher, so now it has had to be started over from the beginning.

And the comforter flopped itself over the center water spray thingy in the washing machine and I couldn't tell if it got washed everywhere, so it is running thru another wash load (this time on the 15 minute 'quick' cycle instead of the hour long 'bulky' cycle). I'm pretty sure the washer is going to get 'off balance' so I'm sitting and listening, waiting to hear bang bang sounds.

Kind makes me wish I hadn't gotten enough sleep and didn't try to clean! :D

My younger daughter and I went to see The Conjuring: Last Rites last night and had a great time. We got there early and chatted for awhile.

We got a huge laugh out of an unwitting mistake I made. When we were ordering our snacks (which had the usual outrageous prices, but I always indulge because I so rarely go to movies), I ordered popcorn. The girl asked me if I wanted "salt in the middle."

Umm. I said "OK," not entirely sure what she meant. All the concession vendors were racing around, or I would have asked.

So she plunked the half-full popcorn container down on the counter in front of me and scooted off to get the soda and my daughter's Icee. My daughter and I exchanged glances is to say "Is that it?" The container was a tub, and I'd been expecting a much smaller container, so I thought maybe they'd just run out of the smaller containers.

The concession girl came back, grabbed it and filled it to the top, and said "OK—you can put the rest of the salt on top now." Apparently I was supposed to salt the middle part myself! It was just then that we noticed the salt cellar, nearly hidden behind the napkin dispenser and straw dispenser. So I hurriedly shook some salt on, not wanting completely un-salted popcorn.

We laughed about it all night. Apparently this is the procedure now at theaters? I had no idea. :ROFLMAO: And my younger daughter doesn't care for popcorn, so she never orders it.

It may sound dumb as I've described it here, but at the time we found it quite funny, although I did feel a little foolish.

The saga continues... Test drove my new (to me) car this morning and it's everything I hope it'd be. Now I have have to wait a week for to to be put through the mill to get 'Approved Used Honda" status which means I get 12 months warranty. I stuck my lip out so they've given me a brand new Honda Jazz Hybrid to play with while I wait. It's a very nice little car!

Tomorrow we drive down to the old home town to have Mum's ashes intered at the family church and meet up with relatives that couldn't travel up here for the funeral. Another step to closure. Just need Probate to come through so we can sell her appartment and share her estate according to her Will. Then we can move on - I hope.
