All Yankees, who were born to love snow. I lived in Boston for a couple decades, in the northeastern US for 35 years. Never was I so glad as when I returned to Georgia. Back to the land of hardly any snow.

One time the snow was way to deep for the children to play in. They were about 2,, maybe 3 -- and the snow was much deeper than they were tall. So my mom shoveled a whole lot of into the kitchen. Often it was too deep, but I just cleared a play area for them.

That looks a lot like North Dakota, @hollydolly!

One of the only things I admire about this state is that people don't flip out when it snows. Snowfall doesn't even get a mention until we hit 12–18 inches (30–46 cm).

😁 @WheatenLover, you and I are the exact opposite! I grew up in central New York. Years later, when we lived in Virginia, I would get so irritated with everyone flipping out when even a dusting of snow fell. One week, we got 8 inches, and my younger daughter's preschool was closed for an entire week! In New York and North Dakota that doesn't even make us blink.

I had to keep reminding myself that, obviously, it's a state that doesn't get a lot of snow. And my ex, who worked (and still does) for the National Weather Service, reminded me that they define "winter storm" differently depending on the region. So, for example, 2 inches of snow is considered a winter storm by the NWS in southern states, but in snowier states the criterion is a lot higher.

It's funny how you get used to a particular type of weather. After living in Nevada, and now North Dakota, for so many years, I have no doubt that I would not handle Georgia's heat and humidity well at all. Don't get me wrong, though: I'd move to Georgia in a heartbeat. I love the South.

Yeah, we got about 1" of snow last winter, and everyone got all excited about it. Including me,, cuz as far as snow is concerned that is nothing!

The heat and humidity here never bothered me when I was in my teens and 20's, and it doesn't bother me now. Plus everything is air-conditioned. Moved to Boston, summer came, and everyone was loudly complaining about the humidity. I could not feel it at all. The cold, though is another story. Our car would not heat up very well in -25 degrees (not including windchill).

We almost got transferred to ND when I was a kid - to Minot AFB. My dad got his orders canceled and we went to Alabama instead.
 
Do you ever have those days where things get blown our of proportion. For example, my entire day was "ruined" because my grocery delivery was delayed. So "waiting for the delivery man" became a huge focus of the day. Whereas, does it really matter if he's here at 10:00am or 13:00? I mean, I get it might for someone - but for me? Nah.

Regardless, I allowed to get the entire door off-kilter. :D

Already back from my 120 mile, $20 worth of gas, Veteran's Day road trip. Quite enjoyable drive, despite not taking my camera out of the car. Did get out and walked around a dozen times. Diffuse high cloud skylight and calm breezes were great, but peak leaf translucence and saturation for most trees looked to be a week or two before in late October, such that many now are showing a brown yellow leaf mix versus green yellow. Had not done the loop drive since before the pandemic. Numbers of modest fall leaf subjects I could have worked. However, I didn't think any were strong enough aesthetically to ever see the public light.

Oh, boy, you guys dodged a bullet, in my opinion. I'd definitely take Alabama.

I managed to get used (sort of) to heat and humidity after living in first Missouri and then Virginia. But when we visited my sister in North Carolina one time after having been in dry Nevada for a few years, I had trouble handling it. We were sitting in her screened-in porch one evening, after sunset, and with a ceiling fan running, and I still had to go inside to the air conditioning. She was shocked at my wimpiness. 😄

I would surely help you if I could Muskrat. Financial stuff is my thing. While it stresses other people out, it relaxes me. I keep track of what my son owes me for his charges and what his cash back rewards are for using our cards. I deposit those in his account quarterly.
 
Up at seven again this morning, it's like being back at work. Sorted the laundry after it's overnight wash, made breakfast and got the lady's bread sliced ready for toasting. At nine thirty I will be sitting in the barber's chair. Sadly for me I shall have to seek a new barber. Joyfully for Louise, who cuts my hair, she is going on maternity leave.
On my return I shall prepare tonight's chilli con carne, there won't be time later. Yesterday's birthday girl has invited us back to their place this afternoon, that's likely to be coffee and cake. Somehow I need to squeeze in those vacuuming and dusting chores.
