Happy Wednesday morning, November 12th, SF Peeps!

Today I begin cookie baking prep, meaning I'll start making and freezing dough that I'll start baking right after Christmas.

On an unhappy note, I just received a notification from my primary vendor about an additional price increase effective January 1st. Another 10%, due to tariffs. This is in addition to the 7% increase that was effective June 1, 2025.

The birthay girl did us proud. She made cream filled, chocolate covered eclairs, and gluten free, knowing my wife's allergy.
How indulgent they were, how could I say no when offered a second one. Our chilli con carne will be served a little later this evening.

There's a new sewing project and it's not a shirt, or trousers and, it's not my size.

I'm about to get up and go start getting ready for work. I got so distracted on here I forgot to take my inhalers so I'll hafta do that in a minute. I usually do my nebulizer treatment but won't have time for that. LOL! Y'all are too much fun!

Not sure if I will play video games after work or not. Depends on whether the lack of sleep last night catches up to me and kicks my butt later.

It's racing towards 9.30pm....the hire car company finally sent someone to collect the car....I was beginning to think it was going to take root here and have little baby cars of it's very own

I wasn't feeling too well this afternoon so I slept for 2 hours ... and I cancelled my doctors appt for tomorrow morning in case I'm not feeling better.. a very rash thing to do considering it'll take another 3 weeks to get a new appt, but I still feel rough now, so I probably won't feel like driving tomorrow morning, so it's best to cancel so someone else can have the appt instead..

Had my flu shot today. She mentioned we were eligible for the free pneumonia vaccine. Iā€™ll have that another day. The nurse said she could barely keep up with the demand for flu or covid shots last year. You would think knowing that the government who supplies these would have ordered similar quantities. Apparently not, unless thereā€™s a countrywide shortage that I havenā€™t heard about.

Went out for lunch afterwards. It was mediocre. Stopped in a grocery store after that. Yikes, the prices.
 
Been a somewhat busy day, rode the 900 for a couple hours this morning, it's sunny and 60Ā°F so I didn't need the heated grips or seat. I started riding the last day of February this year and will be riding through the next 10 days it appears. Pretty sad wx for mid November.

On the route stopped in and dropped my paperwork and fingerprints for my Concealed Weapons Permit(CWP), which is no longer required in Idaho, but having the CWP eliminates the NICS background check and reduces the potential for mistakes and errors that gun sellers make during the sales process. This replaces my Utah CWP.

Then home to check on the transfer of the weapon to my local dealer, I've been calling and emailing trying to understand where the transfer stood, but no answers. The seller is Scheels fyi, a chain sporting good store based in ND. Finally I got a call back confirming shipment. The firearm in question is almost impossible to find right now otherwise I would have bought elsewhere. Scheels has them available because they are a big time gun dealer.

And now I'm looking forward to my wife cooking dinner tonight, as she's been doing on Wednesday's for while now.

boy these days for whirlwind activity til about 3pm and then it's like someone pulls my plug... I have all these great ideas about writing things (diary thread, for example) and then by the time I get around to it, pfffttt... I feel like I have 2 brain cells left and one is sputtering.

a tuff day...called the doc and he doesn't want me to come back, instead going to refer me to eye specialist, so more waiting more pain...I'm amazed that the local hosp and clinics
don't have eye specialists on staff....oh well.....
 
Life as a bachelor while my wife is in Italy. Well, my older daughter will stay with me; and my younger daughter will come by frequently.

My younger daughter is driving my wife 70 miles to the airport -- My wife is joining a church group at LAX for a pilgrimage.

It's an 11+ hour non-stop flight to Munich, and then another 1+ hour to Rome. Ten years ago, my younger wife dragged me along.
But in two months I'll be 90, and now I am too old for such long flights. It's a health risk. So, she joined a church group this time.

Already ten years ago, we both participated in Pope Francis' General Audience. This time she will do so on her own next week Wednesday.

BTW, The first time, I took my family on a vacation to Europe in 1990 that included participating in Pope John Paul's General Audience. As
we flew over Greenland, my 7-year old daughter counted white polar bears on the ice shield from 6 miles up. My eyes were not that good.

Kind of you to say so, thank you. I'm sure that you are right. The suit was inspired by a hat that she saw at one of the functions we enjoy going to. I think it's a lady's fedora, not quite sure, but it has that head turning wow factor.

Not having anything to go with it she just photographed it. Given that she has that style of hat in a various colours I'm sure that both suit and hat will look fabulous.
 
Today I had my blood pressure checked at Walmart. My doc wanted to know if it is as high as when I am in the office. If so he will prescribe another BP medicine. It was a little high. Don't know if it is high enough to warrant more meds. It was super high when I went for an angiogram on Monday. We shall see.
