Everyone have a great day

Good morning, to everyone. It is sunny but still cold, it will warm up in the 70's this afternoon. We will be going out to get my husband's new glasses. They over tinted them and had to redo them. It takes over a week to have glasses made.

@hollydolly , please take caution driving in the rain. I hope all goes well for you today.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

First overnight frost here. I'm glad we had a new boiler fitter earlier this year. I wouldn't want to be without central heating and hot water.
Mrs. L has bought a large quantity of small onions to pickle, but we have to go and get more vinegar. We've also been making batches of pies, but couldn't get pig kidney for the streak and kidney, so it will be steak and vege pies.
My mother used lamb kidneys, iirc.

Rainy day here, as well. Or perhaps I should say rainy week — the forecast for 6 of the next 8 days include a strong chances of rain. Instead of Sunny Southern California 😎 I'll be coming to you from Soggy Southern California. ☔

Making and freezing double batches of cookie dough each day is working out well. Only takes a couple of hours each day from setting up mise en place through kitchen cleanup. I wouldn't classify myself as having a bad back, but it does start complaining after more than a few uninterrupted hours on my feet.

Hope you make today a good one, peeps.

Left @StarSong While you are getting soaked (upper left,) we only have had a drizzle so far (to the right of the center.)
Right: But keep in mind that a wild fire is still burning at this moment to the East of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (The Pack Fire in California.)

Right: My grandson said "Farewell" to Otto, who has to be euthanized because of cancer, by sharing his Hamburger meal with Otto.

My younger wife is in Italy to be in the general audience with Pope Leo XIV next Wednesday. In the meantime, my older daughter
is taking care of me, and spoils me with candies and baked salmon. I already ate one piece for breakfast, and it was sooo delicious.

I guess I've been running myself ragged lately. My bad knee, the one with the torn meniscus, has had enough!! So today I'm hoping to give it a break. Maybe it will behave for me tomorrow, when I go roller skating! 😄

Next week will be another busy one. Fortunately, one of the things on next weeks agenda is to see my Orthopedic Surgeon and get a shot in that knee. I haven't gotten one since the beginning of the year, so I guess I'm due.

I'm hoping to. She has to work Thanksgiving night, and there aren't too many places here that are open for a meal on Thanksgiving Day, even during the day. (My older daughter and I tried that a few years ago; the only place open was a truck stop, and the food was really bad. Not that the food is the point, of course.)

So, we might go to a movie, even though that isn't very Thanksiving-ish, or I may go to her place. As long as I can see her at some point, I'll be happy.

The same issues come up at Christmas. It gets a bit complicated because my ex is right here in town, but he doesn't speak to me despite my attempts to be civil, so that kind of throws a wrench into things. If he'd unbend a little, we could all get together and things would be a little simpler, especially for the girls.

Complicating the girls' situation is the fact that my older daughter has multiple in-laws, because her husband's parents are divorced and both have remarried, and my younger daughter is living with her long-term boyfriend, and they want to see his family, too. They have lots of juggling to do. I try not to put any pressure on them.

And, of course, there's my son and his girlfriend, 10 hours away in Des Moines, but . . . Well, you all know that story.

Some folks go to a Chinese restaurant on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Of course they won't be serving turkey.

Today I took some cans of stuff to the fire station for the local food drive. My dirty little secret is that I hate parting with food. I can give money easily…but I hoard food a bit and find it difficult to part with. I also went looking for construction supplies for the project house aka “my little casa hemorrhage”. You would think that anyplace that sold a basecoat of something would also sell the finish coat…guess not.

It's been aboslutely horrible here today.. the rain has been torrential... TORRENTIAL.... and the traffic was even worse than a normal rush hour friday, maybe because more people left work erly because of the rain.. but jeez... there was hardly a main road that wasn't flooded.. and I don't live in a flood plain, my local town is not a flood plain, so for it to flood in such a short time means the rain has been relentless.. and it's still is now at 8pm..

Having to get used to the new car as well meant I coudn't find where the window demister was, so I was driving on my nerves , honestly..

Anyway after I saw the physio, I thought as it's raining, no-one will be at the garden centre...I'll go take a look at this years Christmas decorations.....boy was I wrong about it being empty.. there was so many people that the 200 seater Restaurant was jam packed... yet there was nothing going on to bring so many people in... I've never even seen it that busy in summer .. ..I really do believe that hardly anyone goes to work these days, I couldn't believe my eyes..

here's a few photos from the displays ...they were all life size..or larger ...the books are huge... papier mache

Holly, that place is beautiful. Perhaps it was busy because everyone needed a break and called in sick today...? Lol

I got some Holiday shopping done yesterday. Spooky was glad to see me, I found her a new toy :)
Filled the gas tank, went through the car wash. Grumpy dude wasn't there, hope he's okay. I worry for him.
Got my stuff done early today, taking the rest of the day on the couch, fan running, with my laptop and Spooky on my feet. Life is Good!!

Been a busy couple of days... shopping, book club, gym, taking Ed on an outing... and then this AM, the resident feline (with no problems last night) stayed under furniture all morning/early afternoon... not eating or drinking. Any of you cat lovers/owners out there know usually cats do this when they are hurt or sick. Managed to get an appointment with the vet (of course this will happen on Friday--they are not open on Sat/Sun) and exam/blood work showed absolutely nothing wrong. ::eye roll::

Earlier this week, I was late having lunch and stopped in at the local Popeye's--just had a yen for fried chicken. The girl took my order (giving me a strange look when I asked for one thigh + a side of coleslaw)... as she gathered my items, she was talking with one of the girls in the back (I couldn't hear their conversation). Bringing my order to the counter, she turned one more time and said over her shoulder to the other girl, "Maybe they'll offer you probation." 0.o Uh, say *what*? Maybe I misunderstood, but not my idea of a conversation to have in public, especially serving customers.
