How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I knew too good to be true. Seems my captivity release date moved from this weekend to next week Wednesday or Friday. Either way I’m spending thanksgiving at my son’s place. Yeah. They like to be the enforcer of their own rules. No power sharing of me and my family s wishful thinking!
Good thing I now actually like the food!

As noted earlier, yesterday, Wednesday November 19, 2025 visited a local Open Space Preserve, where wearing all my rain gear for photography, hiked over 6 miles climbing about 1000 feet. Although it did not rain, it had rained several inches over days before, so everything was very wet. Trails had minor erosion and debris flows. Streams were up that added to aesthetics.

I had last visited the area over 2 decades ago and recalled little. Found lots of strong subjects to return to in the future that would have been optimal at the end of October, as most leaves of maples had already fallen. Was still a rather productive day. A hiking group (Meetups) with over a dozen seniors, some obviously over 80, were on an even longer hike up the creek. Some thumbnails below.

Worked this banana slug close-up, about 5 inches long, that was consuming lichen on a fallen branch.

Well.. I saw the doctor, waited 1/2 hour over my appoinment time, and he says these new lesions are not Carcinomas... and he's given me steroid cream... and a follow up appt in 4 weeks.....so that very good news... and he must have chased up my initial dermatology appt, from the beginning of September because when I got home at 1.30pm.. a few minutes later the hospital text me with a date in a couple of weeks for the removal procedure..

I had to scrape the ice off my windscreen before I drove to the docs.. ( I do miss my Ford's heated windscreen) but by the time I left the Doctor's surgery, the Sun was out and it was blinding.. and so I drove to the next town to get the supermarket.. and the pub for breakfast cuz I'd been up since 5.45 am and it was now 11am... so I went there and had a small brunch... pubs' all decorated for Xmas...

Got the shopping.. the supermarket was mobbed.. there was queues of people with full trolleys all the way up each aisle.. and there was only 2 manned checkouts... ... by the time I got out of the store the sunshine had gone and it was overcast.. and we had a little rain.. which wasn't even forecast

Anyway.. I'm home, everything has been put away....I'm changed back into my house clothes, and just about to have a cuppa char....

Ahhhhh you made it out! And I'm happy for the very good news.

@hollydolly I am 81 and will be 82 next April. My husband is 80 but disabled. I take care of him and do all the housework and chores. He can however help like putting air in the tires as he sits on foot stool and using the automatic tire inflator, he takes a while doing it and I help move the stool and equipment around the car.

So, by saying elderly, that is what I think we are.

Anyway. Renaming this place to Hotel California. Check in any time you like but you can never leave.
I hope that’s a joke. I can be so hilarious.

@hollydolly, no, I will admit my real age if asked. Thank you for asking. I just can't believe I am this old so fast. :D
I completely understand that..I'm 70... but I was 20 ... 5 years ago... so how did that happen?

I was sitting in the doctors' waiting room today, and 2 young women came in together both with young toddlers... and I sat there thinking...that was me.. almost 50 years ago.. and yet here I am sitting in the same doctors waiting room.. and it seem like yesterday.. and these 2 young women ..could not only be my grandchildren.. but they could be my daughters children, and grandchildren... just incredible to realise just how fast time has gone past..

When I was young , my mother used to say time will go so fast...of course when you're young time doesn't go fast enough.. we want to be a teen, then we want to be 21.. then we want to be out in the world.... and all of it seems to take ages.... but the last 30 years have absolutely shot by in a complete blink of an eye.. and here I am at 70....who on earth would have thunk it...

Anyhow Rae...just remember regardless of how old you get you'll always be younger than the Beatles, Mick Jagger & Tom Jones.......:ROFLMAO:

Time certainly does fly Holly. Back in 2008, my wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. As a surprise I treated my lovely lady to another Birman cat, a breed that she loves.
Ruby Mae 23.05.08 002.jpg
Being our 40th the cat was named Ruby and as the month that we married was May, Ruby became known as Ruby-Mae.
It's often said that dogs have owners, whilst cats have staff. Ain't that the truth? Ruby had us round her paw from day one.
Our little Birman has been a feline friend for the last seventeen years.

As of late Ruby has been strangely unwell. Strange in that she seems to have some sort of feline dementia. We have been back and forth to the vet with her for the last few months. Today, at yet another vetinary appointment, all became clear, Ruby has a tumour, an inoperable tumour. We could choose a course of steroids but even if that delayed the inevitable it wouldn't give Ruby her quality of life.

The vet kindly left us alone with Ruby, we shed many tears, had one last long hug, took a copy of her paw prints and agreed to let Ruby have the lethal injection. It has been a tough day.

Ruby is the fourth Birman cat that we have had the privilege to share our home with. Our other three, that Ruby has now joined, are waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge.

The ceramic pots that you see are the last resting places of those Birman cats. Each one has a rose, today another ceramic pot is there and the rose in the pot has a name. A name that reflects a treasured feline friend, it's called: "Precious Ruby."

WELP back from eye doc,,,,it seems all is okay, just need tokeep on
using the drops my doc gave me a week ago....nothing wrong inside
or under eye lids so yay.......
That sounds good, Hawk. I had mine this afte5nnoon as well. My big fear was driving home after having my eyes dilated. No problem. The solution seems much milder than I remember. He didn't really have an answer about my sensitivity with glare but told me to pick up PreserVision for vitamins to help control macular degeneration. Cant be that bad. Come back in a year,

So sorry, HC. You gave Ruby Mae 17 good years. Sometimes the right thing is the hardest.

@horseless carriage, hugs to you and the Mrs. It’s a very tough day losing your little Ruby-Mae.
My condolences on the loss of your beloved Ruby-Mae. It's so hard to say goodbye to the critters who bring great joy to our lives.
Thank you, all of you, the gambit of emotions has been exhausting. There is a sense of bereavement but there's also the guilty feeling that we didn't try for the steroids, instead we took the easy option. I know that we didn't, responsible pet owners know that it's selfish to let an animal suffer. We did the right thing but the emotions take a while to ease. Again, thank you, your replies are a real help.

Afternoon Peeps of SF....🙋‍♀️

Well it's sunny... the ice and frost is not melting tho' in the garden which is the sun trap of my house...it;s just 2 deg now at mid-day.....

I've just been talking to the contractors who are going to be building my new Utility room.. and they wanted to start on the 2nd of December but I have several hospital appt's and procedures between now and the 3rd week of December.. so I told them they can't start now..

He wanted me to just leave a key to the house with the contractors office.. and I said ''No chance''.... so they're now not going to start until the New year

Have the best Friday you can folks...🌸
