Good morning to everyone. It is cloudy but another day in the 80's.

Yesterday, I went to the store and it was packed and had to park far away from the store to get in and found people were shopping like crazy.

Then went to get gas in the car in town and it was so noisy with traffic. I haven't seen this much activity in years in our town. The schools are out so maybe parents were off their jobs, too.

Where I live, our neighborhood is extra quite. I hope it stays that way.

Everyone have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving. :)

Cloudy 51 here.

The guys got home about 8:45.
Both were glad to be away from the big city traffic.

Between cleaning,, got couple batches of cookies made.
After listening to them describe their trip ,, I went to bed.

They have our son's car to put into his car hauler trailer.
Plus some other work to do, that should keep them busy enough that I can dust & vacuum living room.

Hubby & I talked about selling the corvette that went for repairs.
My thoughts were ,,"If you can't enjoy it/use it,, why keep it?"

I'm too short to see out of it,, wouldn't drive it,,, too much 'horse' power.

Weather is very cold and occasionally wet today. We're packing our bags and are off to Hamburg in a couple of days. I've booked a small suite in the Marriott hotel which is convenient for the markets, cafes etc.. Younger daughter and OH are joining us and we've got a few things planned. It's a few years since we've been there, so we're looking forward to seeing it again.

Noisy loud endless hammering construction work outside, that has been going on for months, was the most annoying ever today.

Per my above post, made Walmart deli broccoli cheese soup last night and found out it was very different than what I've been buying from them for the last few years. Only was able to consume about half before throwing out the rest. YUK! Went onto the walmart website and brought up that product's reviews. Apparently, several months ago, people began reporting their ingredients had changed. Probably as a result of some shitification loving corporate bean counter. Tasted much like Progresso canned broccoli and cheese soup that is flat, disgustingly worthless, tasting without the strong cheddar cheese taste of either Panera or Safeway Select broccoli and cheese soup products.

So Walmart apparently discovered then used the high end product ingredients and after gaining market share because their price was about $2 cheaper for a 16 ounce container, replaced the cheese with something cheap. And my local Walmart's are just now getting the new food products.

Earlier this morning loaded 2 new pages to my website but had issues login in for about the fourth time in a row over a couple years due to password aging. Thus wasted maybe 20 minutes on the phone again. Am giving the expensive hosting service just one more time to fix this and if not, am going elsewhere as all my HTML coding was done manually in Notepad using none of their fancy GUI tools.

Next found out my Windows 11 desktop free encryption app was no longer free with a $30 annual charge now. Luckily, the only files I had encrypted at this time were also open unencrypted. Otherwise, would be locked out. I would have had to pay for a pro $$ subscription in order to read my own files. Weirdly, the same app in mobile form, still runs on my old moto g smartphone for free. Well at least for the moment. In any case, I loaded a different encryption app in case that happens again.

Afternoon Peeps of SF...

Wet today, temps are higher tho' beause of that at 12 deg.... instead of 0 deg as it was yesterday...

Just been talking to my uitlities supplier to get a new lower fixed rate for the year, so they've put that in place with immediate effect... for gas and electricity

My daughter is the mathematical genius and she keeps track of when we should change.. and lets me know immediately... even if it only means saving £20 a year.. as it is in this case.. but it means being on the fixed rate for 12 months from today so when the electricty goes up in price in january then it doesn't affect me or her... and also I can change the tarriff rate at any time during the year if prices go down

Have the best Thursday you can folks.... 🍂 🌺 🍂

I was just thinking... 8 years ago when I retired I bought a bunch of bananas , and would take a banana to work every day for my lunch... and the bananas I bought at the weekend were fine throughout the week.
Now, if I buy bananas even if I buy green ones.. by 3 days later they're black and rotting... so I can't have them last from one shopping trip to another it makes me furious!

Yes, it is Thanksgiving Day. We will have turkey with usual sides and a caramel apple pie for dessert.

It will be cold tonight, 37 degrees. Just two days in the upper 30's and then back to lows in the upper 50's.

I hope all have a Happy Thanksgiving and our members in other countries have a nice day, too. :)

In the UK Turkey is the traitonal bird for Christmas lunch... altho' a lot of people don't like it, ( me for one) and have something else instead. Beef roast, ..Duck, Chicken... Gammon, whatever...

I was wondering is it the same in the USA... do you all have turkey on thanksgiving day or , do you ring the changes and have something else?

Most people have turkey, but some people switch things up sometimes and have ham, goose, etc.

It is only 11 F (–12 C) here right now, and overcast and foggy: a very cozy day to stay indoors!

I had a lovely dinner last night with my younger daughter and her boyfriend. It was fun. I was almost in tears hearing my daughter describe to her boyfriend some of the great times we'd had at the holidays, our Christmas traditions, etc. It made me think maybe the kids do look back fondly. There clearly are some good memories still intact. So that was nice.

Today I am going to just curl up and be lazy, watch a movie (and probaby start the Beatles Anthology series), read a book, etc. I was torn between pizza and trying a new French seafood recipe (Scallops Grenobloise), but I think I'm just gonna go with the pizza. Tomorrow it will be back to work for me.

I hope the American folks here have a good Thanksgiving and that everyone, no matter where you live, has a great day in general. :giggle:

Happy Turkey Day!

We will be celebrating at the VFW again, this year. I made a Cherry Dunp Cake to donate at the desserts table. The three of us will enjoy a home cooked dinner and we will not have to cook or clean up.....just enjoy the day with family and friends! There are so many things to be grateful for!

Other than going out to dinner, I plan on mostly taking it easy today. There are a few

that I might get around to taking care of....or not!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day, regardless of what you do!

Lively Monday night with much dancing at a packed nightclub to a Dead jam band, and up till 1am, then awoke at my usual 6am. So a bit blah this Tuesday morning that will be a quiet recovery day. Yesterday, did complete manual HTML coding for 2 more web pages that still need to spelling/grammar check using MS Word and then may load up to the web. Also, will do laundry in a few minutes, and drive to a supermarket to buy a couple food items for a Thanksgiving get together with 9 of us. And may drive a couple miles to a Best Buy to purchase an unlocked Google Pixel 10 Pro in the Porcelain (white) color for $749 plus $70 tax as San Jose has a high sales tax rate of 9.275%.

Wow! Nine of you. You always seem to be solo. Have fun.

You are so right. I now only buy three bananas at a time. And a little greenish at that.

Looks like an 11:30am 60 mile freeway drive to our Thanksgiving turkey dinner get together with 9 of us. Low 50F temps with mostly ground fog overcast. No breakfast today as usual and ate light yesterday, so ought have more space to fill. Get to meet a 2 year old grand nephew.

What has helped me with bananas if you don't mind them being wrapped and being cold is the following link"

Even the green ones are just starting to ripen when I get to them. I tried to copy and paste the information also but it wouldn't work every time. Maybe this will help someone.

I've tried all of that in the last year or 2..not one of them works for the bananas, I buy. I thought it was because I was buying bananas that were too ripe.. so I started buying green... but it's still the same.

I was told the supermarkets are keeping them under freezing conditions for too long, before putting them out, by which time they're ready to rot within days

I always , always keep bananas seprate from other fruit... Ive trieed wrapping the ned in foil, or shrink wrap..nothing works

yes, exactly, and it's really annoying because it means I either have to go shopping every few days, which I really don't want to do...or do without bananas for the bigger part of the week...
