How long is your stride?

I'm reasonably tall for a woman (5'8 1/2') with long legs. Consequently my stride is quite long, and shorter people often have trouble keeping up with me because I can eat up more ground per stride than my friends can. I will sometimes have to remind myself to walk slower or shorten my stride because I'm leaving everyone behind, or they are struggling to keep up with me.

What about you?

I'm 5'4", long legs short body :) years back I got a pedometer and measured my stride when I was doing a lot of walking to lose weight. Their instructions were a little confusing, but my stride was 2'1". I'm sure if I'm taking a leisurely walk with a slower pace, my stride is shorter.

I like the walking app on my phone now, because it measures distance only, regardless of length of steps. I've always been a fast walker, although slowing a bit now due to age, but if I'm shopping at the mall, I go in, buzz around, get what I came for, and I'm outta there. Walk a lot faster if I'm alone, most people wouldn't want to keep up the pace.

Hi Ronni,I'm a bit taller than you are 5'10 1/2,lost a half inch since last yr
I have a long stride had no idea how long it is
I walk at my own pace, have noticed on my walks I can usually get by people who are walking slower than I do.
It does drive me crazy sometimes when some people don't realize they aren't walking in a straight line. They veer to the right&then the left,I have to figure out how to get by without bumping into them.I don't want to startle them ,so I usually say'Excuse me,coming up on your left',they move quickly Sue

I'm 5'3.5". My stride used to be longer and my 6' tall brother couldn't keep up with me. Now, with the trouble I'm having with my hip/sacroiliac my stride is shorter but I've been attempting to lengthen it. I'll get there...or die first....

I'm 5'8" and have a long stride also. I had to remember this when I use to walk my Yorkie and my Peke. Their poor little legs would be flying. A few years back I bought a very cheap treadmill and it had a very short walking space. At the time I didn't realize how important the length of the walking area was until I ran out.
