How many mph do you live your life ?

A couple of my friends live their lives at 100 miles per hour, they don't stop, and one doesn't even give me time to answer my phone, if I've not picked up by the second ring, she tries my mobile which is usually at the bottom of my bag and she's hung up by the time I locate it, doesn't bother to leave a message on either....

I live mine about 50 mph but can accelerate to 70 when necessary, how about you ?

I live my life in a school zone but I can still put the pedal to the metal when I need to.

Good question....I'm with you at 50 and can accelerate to 70, after living my life at 85 because of a high energy level. I'm glad it's slowed down.

Early morning I'm at about 30 I then accelerate for the rest of the day to about 80 but can go at a much higher speed if need be. My problem is not taking my foot off the gas pedal at night when I should be in idle.

Polar opposite, Ruth. I wake up at 70 mph. Accelerate to 90 or 95 once I've had my shower and the first cup of coffee. Stay at that top speed for a couple of hours. Then, begin decelerating. Gradual slowing of speed until about 8 p.m. when I am totally out of gas. Try to coast on fumes until 9 p.m. It's lights out until I rise again between 4:30 and 5 a.m., refueled and at full speed.

In the morning, I back out of the garage sloooowly. It takes a while for the old heap to warm up. Most of the day I'm about a block ahead of the highway patrol. Damn, those guys don't give up easily! End of the day, I turn the key but the old gal has to "diesel" for a while before settling down.

Wren, impatience is becoming an American trait. I've had to tell family and friends to either give me time to find my phone/answer the door or don't bother calling or coming.

Earlier in my life, I cruised at top speed, Life was just too interesting to not see it all, do it all (within reason, of course). I always needed to see what was around the next bend in the road. More recently, I've yielded to age and health issues but still live a happy and contented life even if not at top speed. I'm still way above 'school zone'.

Now that I'm retired I live my life at an easy going speed of 40mph, but I can kick it into high gear if needed. :drive:

Thanks for the great replies, always interesting to hear how other Seniors live, think and feel :)

I get up early going about 5mph, then I start refueling with a couple cups of coffee. I'll start picking up enough speed to make it to the gym, but after that I'll kick in my cruise control at 20-25mph and stay there for the rest of the day. Then unless something comes up and I have to get in the passing lane, that's my comfort zone. I'm with Lon, no more rushing around.

I did the 100-mile-an-hour thing during most of my working life, and now it is a great luxury to be able to slow down. If I have to, I can still zip along pretty fast, but most of the time I just poke along. I refuse to race around if I don't have to -- did enough of that and didn't like it much.
