How much biscuit mix to cover large baking dish

I want to make apple shortcake for the church coffee fellowship. I plan on using a 9 x 12" baking dish and the biscuit topping should be about 1" deep. How much baking mix should I measure (of course it will be moistened with milk and melted butter).

Look on the box if you're using a mix like Bisquick.

I would estimate 2 1/2-3 cups of prepared Bisquick.

Check out a few of the recipes from Betty Crocker and just wing it or make an estimate based on the size of the pan in your original recipe.

What size pan do you usually use for the recipe? If it's about half the size, then just double your recipe.

This is the first time Ive made it and I don't have a written recipe. It's something I thought to make by putting apple pie filing in the bottom of the dish and putting biscuit on top.
