Before 2010, when the ACA came into play. DH & I (self-employed in our small business) paid roughly $2200/month (that's $26,400/year) for crappy medical coverage. You read those numbers correctly.

With the ACA, we bought Silver plans that came to about $600/month. Big difference. In 2017 and 18, the blessings of Medicare's very low premiums and excellent coverage were showered on us.

I never complain about Medicare. Ever.
