How Much Texting Do You Do?

Well, unless I have to talk to the electric company, IRS, or something like that, I prefer texting. Was surprised to find new landlord and staff do, too.
But I never was one to 'chat' on the phone, never saw the appeal in it even in my earlier years. To me, phone was only a way to ask a question, make arrangements, etc., like 'Coming over?' 'Yup.' 'Ok, see ya.'

My preferred form of communication.
I hate talking on the phone!!
And...my hearing is fine.

My preferred form too.
My schedule is so different from my kids. Calling them always got voice mail. Them calling me usually goes to my voice mail...
And I ride motorcycle quite a bit. That was my reason for getting a cell phone; to have a way to keep in touch when away from home. Can't hear the phone ring when I'm riding, much less answer it. And I hate voice mails that say "call me". About what? How urgent is it?!?
I like that texts wait for you to read them, and reply.
My hearing is fine, but I have a slight speech impediment. I don't think about it talking in person, but I'm conscious about it on the phone. Esp. with someone that doesn't know me. I fear it makes me sound 'dumb'.
My memory isn't what it use to be, so I like being able to read previous texts - esp. for times, addresses, etc. And if I got that info on a call, I'd have to find a pen and paper.

Speaking of cell phones - why do so many people ASSUME my cell phone is taped to my hand, or ear?!? If you THINK I need to answer or reply right away, what you really NEED is to adjust your expectations of me.

I usually text on a daily basis but it's not a lot. I'm not one of those people who always has their face in their phone, even when they're out with someone for dinner for example. I think that's rude personally. I see it all the time though, even some of my friends do it, not to mention my kids.

You are so right about that. My friend expects me to answer as soon as he phones. But his phone is always one of those 'leave a message' things and then I might get a call two hours later if I'm lucky.

My husband bought me my phone. If I had my way, I still would not have one. I very rarely text or use the phone, except to text or call him.

I find it useful for quick messages, especially since I can dictate them. Helpful for getting a note to my wife if I'm out somewhere.

Wife to lost husband at the mall: "WHERE ARE YOU ?

Husband: "Honey remember the Jewelry Store where you saw the diamond bracelet you wanted and we could not afford it?"

Wife: "Why yes dear I do"

Husband: "Well I am in the bar next door to it."

News for non cell phone owners who insist on a land line.

A cell phone? Is a phone. Leave it on the the telephone table whre the land line is and it's the same thing.

It rings and does the same functions as a land line with probably the same cost and maybe even less.

The only difference? It's portable. But all the functions are exactly the same. It's not a monster sitting there on your telephone table. It's a phone plain and simple with extra features not available on a land line. So where does the irrational fear come from?
