How not to forget your mask.

This COVID-19 is evidently going to be here for awhile and possibly go through different phases. I am going to wear one of my masks on a long necklace chain around my neck. So, when I get up in the morning, I get dressed-cause I have to take the dog out-I put on my glasses and my chain with my mask. Ready to take the dog out, then have my coffee and later get my morning walk in. What do you think? As seniors we have to be preventive, on purpose and take care of ourselves.

You have to put a mask on just to take your dog for a walk?
It’s a good idea though. I don’t wear a mask very often. Only when I’m going into stores and that’s not all of them; just the bigger, busier ones. If I’m going there then I’m going to be driving so I leave my mask hanging up on the mirror of my car. That way the sun sterilizes it and I don’t forget it.

I have masks everywhere. There are two hanging from the air vent knob in my car and in Ron's truck, so no matter which vehicle we use, we each have one. There are both disposable and washable ones in his work van. I have several hanging in the laundry/mud room just in case I have to step outside to receive a package, speak to the pest control guy etc., or if one of the family shows up here without a mask. I keep one in my handbag. No matter what, we're prepared!! ;)

I do like you @Keesha, and keep my mask hanging in the car. I only seem to need it when I head to the grocery store.

I just cannot wear a mask walking my dog .... I would simply pass out in the heat and humidity around here.
It's a large grassy area around our buildings, and although I see people when I'm walking, I try to keep my distance. I think it's considered private property even though it's several acres in land. And walking the dog is considered exercise ... so by that definition, I don't need to put a mask on.

I don't mask up to take my dog for a walk, but my neighborhood is conducive to social distancing. The suburb was built in the late 50s, so it was designed for both automobile and foot traffic. Wide streets, wide sidewalks, little traffic, and neighbors who are keen to stay far apart from one another during this time.

One of my kids lives in an older, busier part of Los Angeles. He and his wife always mask up when walking out their apartment door.

That’s awesome. I’m all for protecting ourselves and others but I do think wearing a mask too often isn’t good for us. We need to breathe and breathe deeply. I’d hate to have to wear a mask to walk the dogs. I don’t meet up with many people. Today I ran into 5. Two couples who were ladies and a single women and I seemed like the only one concerned with social distancing. I’m the first one to move off the path . Nobody else seems bothered but as long as I’m practising it, I don’t really care what they do.

There is just too much they/we do not know about this corona virus. Wearing a mask while walking the dog is not a problem for me, I can still breathe just fine. This has made me get out the sewing machine and sew again. Wearing a mask right now, I think, is a good idea because too many people are not social distancing and not wearing a mask and no telling what else they are not doing. It is great to hear how everyone on this forum is doing their part to social distance and wearing masks and taking care to provide for others as well. I like the input, it gives me and others ideas and helps. Keep calm and mask on. lol lol

Yes, a mask when walking the dog. Some to only wear one when there are 10 or more people present, and then some say to wear it whenever you go out. So, just to play it safe, I wear one whenever I go out the door. There is too much they/we don't know yet about this virus.

Go back and read the new post by Beck1951 about airborne transmission.

We don't go out without sunscreen, so we keep our masks on hooks we installed in the spare bathroom which is also where we keep the various sunscreen bottles. Sunscreen goes on, then the mask, then a hat. All swaddled up like The Invisible Man. :D
That sounds great, prepared and thoughtful!

I put a few in a zip lock bag and stash them in the glove compartment.

I like the neck chain/cord idea because sometimes I forget to grab my mask when I get out of the car.
