I've been going just once a year for a cleaning, and if I need anything done like a filling I take care of it. I don't have dental insurance with my health plan, so I just pay out of pocket. I've always hated to go to the dentist, when I was a kid I was always getting fillings even though I wasn't allowed to eat much sweets and never drank sodas, except once in a blue moon.
Now that I'm in my 60s, I'm having some gum issues, receding, a little bone loss, etc. I brush twice a day, floss and use a proxa brush once a day or when specifically needed due to eating a muffin with seeds or something, and I use Listerine once a day.
When I got home today from the dentist, I decided to work harder on taking care of my teeth, I don't want to lose them and I never want to have dentures, even a partial if I can help it. After I ate my dinner today, I found myself in the bathroom brushing my teeth, lol. I've also decided that at $150 for a cleaning and check-up, I'm going to start going twice a year, as much as I hate to.
How often do you see the dentist? Twice a year? I heard (from the hygienist) that some people go there 3Xs a year.
