How old is your Desktop/Laptop?

I use a MacBook Pro laptop on a daily basis. It's just over a year old, and I like it a lot. Normally, my wife uses two Mac iPads, and is happy with them. Peculiar as it may seem in the ever-changing world of computers, my wife & I share an iMac desktop that's, I dunno, more than 12 years old. Yes, it's a little slow, but has been reliable and offers the large screen when that's an advantage. It's connected to our scanner as well as the printer.

Eight year old, custom built gaming computer. I've kept up with hardware upgrades and, barring fire or flood, it will likely outlast me.

My 27in iMac is a 2017 model.

5k Monitor
8Gb Graphics
32Gb RAM
2Tb HD

Handles everything I throw at it just fine.

I found Abe Lincoln's fingerprints on mine. Seriously though, it's old... but we've been through a lot together. HP Pavilion... and I have no idea what year, but I've had it for a very long time.

I don't know how old it is. It is refurbished. I got it several months ago from the computer guy in my city. He's good at refurbishing them. I still have windows 10 but I don't care, it's ok. It's great for paying only $180.00 for it!

I have a HP laptop with Windows 8.1 set up as a desktop and have it always plugged in. Can't remember when it was bought. No updates anymore from Microsoft but FF still does one now and then. Also have a refurbished Dell desktop with windows 10 which will get updates for another 1.5 years. I use that one if I buy online expecting it to be more secure.

I recently got rid of my 10 year old desktop computer and bought a laptop because I do some consulting and it was too slow. Also it didn’t have the capability to zoom. I love my new HP which only cost 300.

My main desktop is an aging Acer bought in 2007. I've upgraded the video card, maxed out RAM, and added a 2nd hard drive. It is running Windows 10 right now and doesn't qualify for Windows 11. It is working fine, but I know its end is near. Sadly newer desktop PCs tend to be made shabbier without the same sort of options on them that I like.

My iPad ..,I was lazy and copied this

The iPad (10th generation), unofficially known as the iPad 10, is a tablet computer developed and marketed by Apple Inc. as the successor to the ninth-generation iPad. It was announced on October 18, 2022, and was released on October 26, 2022. Apple Inc.

My laptop well that’s another story ….it’s soooo old it only has XP operating system
but there’s a good reason for it ….I have a embroidery / sewing machine ( 23 years old )
if I want to do any embroidery , I have to transfer designs that are stored on my old laptop to a disk ,the Husqvarna programs won’t work on any higher system than XP. So its the only reason I don’t upgrade my laptop as it’s not used apart from when I use my machine

My electronics standards, my desktop is ancient - 12 years old and running Windows 7. It does what I want (for the most part). The local library computers are even older and they have Firefox V3.0 as their "official" browser. Takes forever for web pages to load and continuous pop-ups saying to update the software which is not an option for visitors. Most of the time when I visit, they don't even have them turned on. When I ask the staff to do it, it takes about 15 minutes for them to boot up.

It's very, very old and enormous, and I do mean enormous, 40ft long. It has a name on it that is very faded, but I can make out the name 'Collosus - Bletchley Park 1943-1945'.
I don't need the central heating on when I'm using it, it gets quite hot. 😊

Three hours old. Seriously. :giggle: I answered your post here on September 9th saying what a dinosaur my laptop was... and by the 24th, it must have heard me and planned its revenge by totally biting the dust. :( New one arrived earlier today.
what make did you get , Kate ?...I'm picking everyone's brains who have been buying new laptops. I'm thinnking of buying a replacement for my dinosaur..

I got another HP... the dino lasted for so many years that I didn't want to try another brand. I can't *believe* all the garbage they pre-load into those things these days! 😮 I ordered from Best Buy yesterday and it was free 1-day delivery.

My desk top is 10+ years old. I runs whatever it's running. The mouse is still connected by wire-not wireless. It still turns on, and does what I want it to do. I love it. I got a laptop in case the desk top dies. The only thing I use it for is for Senior Forum. I hate the thing. If I knew how great an iPhone is, I would have never bought the laptop as a backup, just kept my iPhone.
