How to deal with sinus pressure?

I am having a lot of issues with sinus pressure. Not horrible, but enough to be an annoyance, especially when trying to sleep. I really do not want to go out to buy any meds (although I could go to Walgreens drive through). I have both a vaporizer and an air purifier. Which would work better? I do have some liquid Vicks vapo rub for the vaporizer.

If I do go out for meds, what is best for someone with high blood pressure?

I’ve got bad sinus problems due to a grafted eardrum and Ken suggested a Vick’s sinus inhaler which works great. I also purchase the no name medical pads that have eucalyptus and menthol on them and add a few drops of peppermint for added usefulness. I place them in the slots of the mask itself. Don’t add any essential oils or vapour rub to the water or it will gum it up.

I use dristan mentholated nasal spray before bedtime and when needed. My ENT specialist prescribed a nasal spray but it has steroids in it so I stopped using it and purchased an all natural product called Xlear which works better with no bad side effects. Many people use saline sprays or nose teapots.

Putting thumb pressure right between the eyebrows can relieve sinus pressure instantly. Drinking hot water with lemon 🍋 in the mornings helps boost the immune system.

Use the Vick’s vaporizer with Vick’s vapour rub in it for nighttime relief.

Try a hot shower or a hot drink, even if it's only a cup of hot water, before going to bed.

When you go out ask the pharmacist what OTC medications are best to use with high blood pressure and your other prescription medications.

Hope you feel better!

Hi Marie - try 'accupressure' for sinus points: https://www.healthline.com/health/pressure-points-for-sinus
It works for me. I really try to avoid all medications whenever possible. This is a bit of massage and tapping in different spots on your face and neck in a specific pattern. (I hope this site is good - didn't actually use this one) If not, just Google something like 'sinus massage tapping' - Hope you feel better soon!

A couple of things. You could try non-medicated saline nose spray(salt water) or even mix your own with about a 1/4 of a tea spoon of salt in a 6oz cup of warm water and sniff. Also could boil a cup of hot water then sniff the steam. Or try a steam vaporizer.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water through out day because if you are on the dehydrated side fluids thicken up and wont' drain probably. Also when ever possible open windows when sleeping at night, fresh air tends to be a little more humid at night. If you are really really stuffed you can take the occasional over the counter decongestant with one motrin(anti inflammatory). It's very easy to over do decongestants or medicated nasal sprays because they can dry out and irritate the sinus linings.
